A Fediverse community for open-ended, thought provoking questions
Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, toxicity and dog-whistling are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them
2) All posts must end with a '?'
This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either !asklemmyafterdark@lemmy.world or !asklemmynsfw@lemmynsfw.com.
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email info@lemmy.world. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
6) No US Politics.
Please don't post about current US Politics. If you need to do this, try !politicaldiscussion@lemmy.world or !askusa@discuss.online
7) No Hit-and-Run questions.
Please don't delete your post for no apparent reason. If you plan on deleting a question later, say so in the post, or if you feel that you have a good reason to remove it, message a mod beforehand. It's not fair to the ones who took their time to answer, and it's not in the spirit of the community.
Reminder: The terms of service apply here too.

Being cheated on was gut-wrenching. The worst part is I forgave her and she did it several more times. In hindsight, I was afraid I would not find a prettier woman than her. I was 20 years old and she was 18. Luckily though women do not stay pretty forever and now she's old/ugly like all people our age. (trying to be humorous as beauty is only skin deep and not as important as money)
My favorite thing about maintaining a youthful appearance into my 40's is that every person who was ever been a jerk to me because they weren't attracted to me is already turning into a gargoyle, and I'm over here doing pretty okay with my fey blood. (Except for a slightly weird eye that will eventually get really weird, thanks to a genetic condition.)
Exercise, healthy food, and sunscreen pay with interest as we age. Mom is early 60s looks late 40s.
I said it before, but people are often schocked when they find out how old i am. Especially 20ish year olds who think 30 is ancient. When i tell them basically that, they lose all interest. Oh, so it's not a magic pill and takes the slightest bit of efforts? Stop wasting my time.
Oh yeah.
I'm in my 40's but look like I'm in my late 20's or early 30's and that's always what people guess when the issue comes up. Thankfully, I feel like I'm in my 30's still too.
The only downer is my hair is starting to gray, so in 5 years or so I'm going to be more of a silver fox. :D
Yup. That's all it is for me too.
Money is just as unimportant.
This echoes my ex-perience.
I'm totally sympathetic aside from the whole focus on looks thing. Being older doesn't mean you're ugly. I know you say you're trying to be humorous, but it's not humorous because a lot of people sincerely treat women that way. Also, money is not that important for most people, either, beyond being able to take care of yourself.
