Ich glaub schon, gibts schon seit 10 Jahren.
@Zerush na ja ich meinte mehr in der Praxis... denn da ist reines P2P ja oft ein wenig träge.
Deshalb bin ich Fan von hybrid Systemen... Delta Chat ist so eins... hier existiert der Account auch nur auf den Endgeräten und auch die Posts verbleiben am Ende ausschließlich dort aber zum Transport und als Zwischenspeicher gibt es wie bei Email noch Server... bei Delta Chat nennen wir Sie Chatmailrelays
Für seinen Account kann man nun diese Chatmailrelays aber mit zwei Klicks wechseln so das keine Abhängigkeiten zu einem bestimmten Relay bestehen. Das funktioniert in der Praxis sehr gut und erfüllt im Gebrauch die Erwartungen an die man von WA & Co gewohnt ist.
Alles gültig solange es nicht WhatsCrap oder ähnlicher Müll ist, da ziehe ich sogar noch die althergebrachte SMS vor oder das vorsintflutige Finger Protokoll (funktioniert komischerweise immer noch)
