The followup article with Kinew moreorless matches my opinion on it. This isn't going to be resolved this Election cycle. Carney really needs to just say "At this point trade negotiations are a waste of time and will not be looked into until at least 2028 and then we will go from there" because it's clear even if optimal conditions are met, this US administration wouldn't be trusted to actually follow the agreement regardless, and making concessions with the US over it is just going to get in the way of the Canada first mentality they are attempting to head towards.

The strategy should be to undo our reliance on the US for any trade at all and establish better global relations. Regardless of who comes into office in the future, the US has demonstrated they are not a stable or reliable partner in any respect.
