A place to discuss and support all Steam Hardware, including Steam Deck, Steam Machine, Steam Frame, and SteamOS in general.
As Lemmy doesn't have flairs yet, you can use these prefixes to indicate what type of post you have made, eg:

If your post is only relevant to one hardware device (Deck/Machine/Frame/etc) please specify which one as part of the title or by using a device flair.
These are not enforced, but they are encouraged.
Rules:

- Posts must be related to Steam Hardware or Steam OS in an obvious way.
- No piracy, there are other communities for that.
- Discussion of emulators are allowed, but no discussion on how to illegally acquire ROMs.
- This is a place of civil discussion, no trolling.

The prices are about what I expected. Could be worse. What annoys me a little bit is that in addition to being another lottery for an opportunity to buy, you can only choose one model ahead of time. I would probably buy the 1TB model if I couldn't get the smaller one. But I don't think I'm going to volunteer for the large model and give up my chance to buy the cheaper one. Might ask my nephew to put in a 1TB reservation...
From the news I heard, the expected price was around $1,500. I was pleasantly surprised.
Same, this is the best I could've hoped for considering the current conditions.
Though it saddens me for how cheap it could've been if the world didn't go crazy. Still spendy, but sub 1k would've been really nice
It's inconvenient but understandable considering how vulnerable Valve hardware is to scalping and money laundering right now.
That explains why they have the lottery, but I don't understand why they don't have an "any model" list. They did for the Steam Machine.
I fully expected $1600 US, so I'm pretty happy with where they ended up personally
