The power of AI.

Long story short, AI initially pushed back on the ridiculous idea that drinking your own piss was a cure all, then these users figured out that adding words like ‘esoteric’ to their prompts let them direct AI to tell them what they wanted to hear.

Tbh article was too gross for me to finish. That’s all you get from me for a summary.

Honestly, if they insist on drinking their own piss, be my guest. That shit doesn't affect me in the slightest.

They do spread misinformation which can harm others around you. So an aunt can stop chemo and start drinking urine causing her to die, which will affect you.

Be careful with "I don't care because it doesn't affect me" because if society is harmed, we will all feel it in some form. Like vaccinations. If the percentage of vaccinated people go below a certain threshold, also vaccinated people are at risk of getting sick and die. And often piss drinkers do not vaccinate.

Drinking urine is just one effect of mass misinformation and poor education. If this becomes more popular, you can assume other harmful things are also becoming more popular, endangering the general public.

No, but it will affect someone you love who might be gullible enough to believe their bullshit. Public health education saves lives because it innoculates them against believing in stupid shit like thieves' oil, horse paste, and piss-drinking.

Humans have a genetic instinct to trust their in-group, and we have a bad habit of being slow to accept new information unless we've trained the habit. It's a really nasty combination for people who never really learned critical thinking skills.

If someone I love is drinking their own piss, I will roast the fucking shit out of them.

someone you love who might be gullible enough to believe their bullshit.

If someone I love believes drinking their own piss is a miracle cure, that's no longer someone I love.

We used to say the same thing about anti vaxxers

Only if herd immunity was not a known concept.

[–] realitaetsverlust@piefed.zip -1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Yes, anti vaxxers didnt affect me either.

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You are about to find out the hard way, that's bullshit.

[–] realitaetsverlust@piefed.zip 1 points 2 days ago

It's not. It doesn't affect me. You can keep pretending it did, but my life kept going as usual.

If people like this were able to keep to themselves, we wouldn't even know it was happening.
