More than just 'what app are you using', but I do want that as well.

I want a good mindset for downloading music that has what I want and at least some of what I'll probably like.

Currently, partially as a limitation of the app, I have every song in every album that contains something I like. This works well ish for discovery, but I know less than a quarter of my library, no matter how much time I spend listening to new music. This was with Lidar + tubifary (Tidal and Slskd only).

Currently I'm trying Downtify configured with slskd and yt as a backup, but it seems very slow to download and the app itself is very laggy.

streamrip downloads songs from tidal/quobuz/spotify so you have a drm free local copy

music assistant is a part of home assistant, meaning i integrate my local music library into my smart home with music assistant.

i also have audiobookshelf (selfhosted audiobooks obv) and nextcloud gpodder (selfhosted podcast subscription and listen history sync) hooked into it, meaning in one app that has access to all speakers in my home and also my smartphone, i can listen to all audio related stuff

this then allows me to do fancy stuff like, when i'm at home and connect my headphones to my phone, it transfers to playback queue from my main speaker setup to my phone, automatically stopping the music there and starting it on my phone, and when i disconnect my hradphones when at home, it transfers iz back and i can continuously listen to one queue on mutliple devices.
