In 8 hours it uses 20% of the battery. When Windows or Mac are put to sleep, the damn things can sleep for a week! This is the case with Linux on multiple laptops.

Is there some kind of manipulation going by ring -1 that detects Linux is running? Is Linux not respecting some procedure and kissing a step?

This, Bluetooth, WiFi, screen scaling. 2026 and Linux nuts still tell people it’ll just work 🤣

For common hardware, yeah it does. With my new lenovo work laptop it was just that - worked fine out of the box. Even dock and multiple displays...

Exotic hardware always needs tinkering, Windows is no different there in my experience.

Only issue I've had with Bluetooth in Linux is that Microsoft made me upgrade the firmware in my Xbox controllers to use it...

I am impressed how you seem to be worse at using Linux than my 80yo parents. There is a term for this: PEBKAC.

Wow, you pulled up a user having an issue with Linux. Should I now do the same with Windows? Or OSX?

How many times did Windows Update break a working installation in the past? Just a rhetoric question, because the answer is given.

I’ve never once actually had windows break on an update. Nix otoh is why immutable nix exist 🤣

You can just run everything in containers so you’ll never ever have to break your machine running Pacman 🤣

Super easy, super reliable.

Ah yeah, so reliable that the whole world runs on Windows, yep.

Tap for spoilerIt is not.

[–] makeshift0546@lemmy.today 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

And how much of the world is run on Linux desktop specifically?

You want to compare a desktop environment to a fucking webserver that probably doesn’t even have a gpu or have any concept of Wayland? 🤣Jesus Christ gtfo with that shit. Actually, that’s hilarious. What a dumb fucking statement.

[–] antianarchist@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Ah yes, of course, the ignorance is strong. It doesn’t cost a lot to just look up the biggest Windows update failures. And it is so fun to be fully dependent on one company, to just wait until they hopefully fix things again. But I am glad yoi are happy with the “success” of Windows, while ignoring the fact that it is preinstalled on pretty much any machine. Funny enough that Microsoft puts extra effort into making Windows as fast and stable as Linux. But of course, they only do this because they are so fast and reliable in the first place.

By now, it feels like discussing politics with a MAGA. You go ahead and believe whatever you feel like, I couldn’t care less about it. So long.

So no point or response to your idiotic statement about the powering the world while we’re clearly talking desktops, followed up with assumptions?

I run arch catchy and bazzite. I’m just not delusional about ease of use. Your imagination is running wild.

@makeshift0546 @antianarchist

Is anecdotal evidence reliable? One man says, 'Yes'!

I know immutable nix definitely doesn’t exist to fix broken ass updates 🤣 The hoops you jump though to convince yourself that Linux is easier is fantastic and unrelenting. Little has changed in 30 years of Linux.
