Homie, you can't even convince me to call it "AI." It's an LLM, an algorithm that pumps out letters in the order that we've taught it to calculate to be most desirable.
Inevitable "well, ackshually": yes, I know there are a lot of legitimate non-LLM models out there, but that's not what the colloquial conversations are talking about, and importantly not what Trump is talking about, as he has no idea what he is talking about.
"AI" doesn't just mean LLMs, same as "Italian food" doesn't mean spaghetti and "vehicle" doesn't mean school bus.
true, yet AI is still just the marketing name for Machine learning (ML).
Absolutely wrong - The term Artificial Intelligence was coined by John McCarthy of Dartmouth in 1955. Machine Learning was coined 4 years later by Samuel something.
Calling the modern state of products like Claude Code & kin "just an LLM" is like calling a modern car "Just some refined metal & plastic". Or more to the point, why not call AI "just some math"?
Yes the building block is an LLM. The layers of orchestration on top of that fundamental building block converts it into something else. Don't call it AI if you don't want to, but "just an LLM" is inaccurate at this point.
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're refering to as LLM, is in fact, Harness/LLM, or as I've recently taken to calling it, Harness plus LLM. LLMs are not a useful tool unto themselves, but rather another component of a fully functioning agentic system made useful by the Harness's vector database, tool calling interface, and vital system components comprising a full agentic AI system.
Many vibe coders run a modified version of the Harness system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of Harness which is widely used today is often called LLM, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the Harness system, developed by Anthropic, OpenCode, and so on.
There really are LLMs, and these people are using them, but they are just a part of the system they use. The LLM is the underlying language model: the weights and biases that actually represent the statistical information contained within an enormous corpus of language. The LLM is an essential part of an agentic system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete harness. LLMs are normally used in combination with harnesses, the whole system is basically a harness with LLM added, or Harness/LLM. All the so-called LLM chatbots are really distributions of Harness/LLM!
"Just an LLM" is honest. Implying it's more than that is dishonest. Pretty simple really.
Humans are just atoms, art is just combinations of materials, phones are just various metals & plastics, and a video game is just if statements.
If you wanted to at least make sense you wouldn't have gone out of your way to be comically reductive. "Humans are just advanced primates" would've been equivalent. But you knew that was the case, you were going for a hyperbolic phrase that insinuates stating an honest fact is super unfair. Weird af.
And idiots are just low IQ individuals
No it doesn't lol it's a LLM all the way down, the system prompt doesn't change that
Humans are just an assortment of atoms. The specific assortment doesn't change that.
