Can you be more specific as to why he's a sellout?

Who is more popular?

I'm not Brazilian but I have followed the broader Brazilian news.

Lula is unquestionably way better than Bolsonaro, but the main issue with him is that he's still part of the party embroiled in a corruption scandal of a state-owned oil company, which turned Brazil upside down in mid-2010s. Lula may not have personally benefited and he was exonerated from corruption charges, but the fact that he is still running with a corrupt party leaves question marks as to why he's still rubbing shoulders with convicted politicians.

Don't get me wrong, Lula still has goodwill from the people. He is responsible for the uplifting of millions of Brazilians from poverty during his first stint as president in 2000s, but his association with a corrupt party left an ink on him. He's also old and he has not succeeded in steering the country against inflation, which to be fair, is what a lot of countries are struggling with not just Brazil.
