i came to this forum thinking i'd find interesting stuff and it's mostly just people getting angry at reality

[–] FartMaster69@lemmy.dbzer0.com 82 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

When reality is shit one must rage at it.

[–] padreug@programming.dev 1 points 3 weeks ago

Rage is uncontrolled anger... it's not helping anyone and certainly not the person experiencing it. If you can find a way to channel that anger into something constructive, then you are doing something beneficial for all

Yeah, but if that's all you do nobody wants to be around you.

[–] kibiz0r@midwest.social 13 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

We’re on !linux@programming.dev. You think people want to be around us?

Hmmm, prove it using a bash script.

[–] dontbelievethis@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 weeks ago

Sudo rm -rf ~/bin/.*

Claude, write me a bash script that proves there is more to life than !linux@programming.dev

Oh no, you are one of those "if you don't adapt you will be left behind" people, aren't you?

[–] im_fine_sandy@nord.pub 11 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

AI is the new reality aparently.

[–] padreug@programming.dev -5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

or imagine a reality where AI just exists alongside other things. Stop catastrophizing

[–] im_fine_sandy@nord.pub 13 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Ignoring the hype is not catastrophizing.

[–] padreug@programming.dev 0 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

alright, i'm disengaging from this echo box... everyone should go outside and sit in nature for a while

[–] Catoblepas@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Feel free to do so next to a data center. Feel (hear, breathe) some externalized costs for a while.

[–] padreug@programming.dev -2 points 3 weeks ago

low dimensional thinking

[–] november@piefed.blahaj.zone 6 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Why is it bad if people get angry at things that are happening in the world? Would you rather we get angry at fiction?

[–] padreug@programming.dev -4 points 3 weeks ago

it's fine, i'm just commenting that it's getting tiring and I don't see people doing something constructive with that anger on a forum where my perception is there are a lot of intelligent people who have power from technical understanding that carries a lot of power. I have a need to see progress and structure through collective wisdom as I think that is lacking.
