Detective Pikachu.
Spoilers for the ending
I think they shot themselves in the foot by having Pikachu lose his human voice and return to talking like a normal Pikachu. I'm not sure a "buddy cop" type movie would work as well without real dialogue. All that said though...It was a very unique take on Pokemon. Some of the designs looks odd in live action 3d, Mr. Mime comes to mind lmao, but it was so cool seeing how humans and monsters work together and are integrated into an urban setting. It's something the games touch on a little, but something Nintendo/Game Freak don't seem interested in animating in any interesting way. (That's not a dog at the battle system not being animated, which is a totally separate topic.)
Seeing Loudred (I think it was Loudred, not Exploud) as a DJ while there was a fucking cage match was sick as hell!
That's perfect. I would watch just for the random everyday things happening. I love the adventure of exploring the pokemon world. I want a game or live action series that is about finding all the pokemon in their natural habitats. Battling is popular, but doesn't even need a place in the series I imagine.
