Yeah, this seems like his level. Goofy comedy that's not making some huge statement other than "times have changed".
You know, the administrations humor is actually the best part of them. Why should a President be taken seriously or pretend the role isn't increadibly corrupt?
Yes I would prefer world leaders actually try to do good. Make that their focus. But I'm also not going to pretend it's a 100% benevolent role. I'm not going to pretend Clinton, Bush, Obama weren't in it for the rich, whilst bombing the poor?
Should they be taken as seriously president for hiding it better? Is that the right moral facade to prop up?
Or is Trump a shithead, because others were shitheads before him? He knew the job description and fit it... So we get this goofy comedy, that's not making some huge unknown statements other than "times have changed".
The Presidency should never have been a dignity. It's always been about solidarity. The only question had been: with who?
While I do agree most presidents were in it for the power and money, Trump is particular in that he really seems to enjoy cruelty much more than any US president we have ever seen. Yes the previous ones did surely allow and tolerate cruelty for power, I think Trump would simply want cruelty even if it did not materially benefit him. Because with other people, money and position makes them feel powerful. With Trump, money, position and cruelty makes him feel powerful.
It makes him more dangerous too, which is a signal which gets more profit.
But this has little to do with my point: Trump has taken a mask off, which the whole system was wearing. His cruelty is the moment the rapist drops his pants.
Hopefully just as his Presidency has been unfettered and undisguised capitalism, the next President will show unfettered, undisguised Socialism... Just as pure and devoted as Trump's purely corrupt Capitalism.
