Pls explain so I also don't make same mistake. How is an avif upload more efficient than a pasted link?

The image preview was cropped on Voyager. And maybe it's my connection but i could watch the website building itself. Well, for 2 seconds at least – after the first 5 seconds of nothingness.

Link loads large data. Image loads small data.

This is super backwards to me, isn't a link just a string of characters whereas an image is like tons of strings basically?
