Ye Power Trippin' Bastards

1929 readers
35 users here now

This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.

Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.

Posting Guidelines

All posts should follow this basic structure:

  1. Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
  2. What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
  3. Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
  4. Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
  5. Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.

Rules

Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.

Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.

YPTB matrix channel: For real-time discussions about bastards or to appeal mod actions in YPTB itself.

The lemmy.ml admins couldn't handle someone pointing that any conversation about Palestine should be centered around the Palestinian victims undergoing a literal genocide and not on Judaism, because in the present day Jews are just privileged white people who aren't facing any systemic oppression but are even systemically privileged.

An instance pretending to give a voice for the the Global South in the end just censors non-Eurocentric opinions to the point of censoring for genocide.

Apparently they didn't instantly delete the comment after banning me but did so hours afterwards, probably because others agreed with me.

This part of the post pertains a feddit.uk post which I assumed was a crosspost but this was not removed by the lemmy.ml admin and this part can be ignored. Leaving it here for reference

The ~~admins~~ feddit.uk mods also removed a post ~~from my own community~~ because the post cites TheDailyMail and that is not a "reliable source" despite the headline being completely verified including a link to the UK government report itself. Might as well introduce MBFC next.

Here is TheGuardian saying the same thing: Government expected to accept recommendations of review, which found three in five Jewish students had experienced prejudice. And here is an even more extensive debunk of the report found on the "ultra radically left" /s Hasan Piker subreddit

Not .world? That’s like all USA Feds lol

Blocked select world communities only to force me to remember that there are better alternatives. Like I try not to post to world's cats anymore, and instead post to cats@shitjustworks. World is too big and reminds of Reddit. Also lol for not being able to talk about piracy.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 4 points 1 week ago

.world politics is fully blocked, the others is fine though.

.world has its own issues, but people usually talk about the tankie triad, referring to the three instances I mentioned.

.world hasn't universally blocked piracy. As with many things there are nuance. That and piefed.world is kind of neglected lol. But I can browse the piracy communities just fine generally. But compared to LW PW is a blip statistically. If someone were going to notice such comms being available on one of their services. Lemmy would be the one. As such, I understand them doing it. It sucks. But it would be a very attractive target.

Did you reply to the wrong comment? We weren't discussing the piracy communities in this comment thread.

I avoided PieFed as didn't they hard code some instance blocks in their code and not even communicate it or something?

[–] Eldritch@piefed.world 1 points 1 week ago

They defaulted some yes. But they can and have been disabled here.

Tankies or Nazis. You can have one or both.

[–] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

.world is fine, except for the politics, and any anti-zionist comments in thier politics communities. they dint like how i(in an older account pointed out how much boost they got from jewish actors like seinfeld, and censoring universities. for thier propaganda)

World, sjw, discuss.social are all sharing user data including emails and ip addresses. So, feel free to use them but….. I wouldn’t. I don’t know much about Lemmy.today but I assume it’s just another honeypot.
