Idk, if a meme convinces someone to start smoking, they probably would get into it regardless.

As a one time thing, sure. But when they start seeing it several times a day, it makes it seem normal. It maybe adds to their curiosity so they end up trying it.
Memes that depict it positively are a subtle way to normalize the behavior.
True, but so does seeing it on the street. That's just cohabitation with other humans.
No need to have that glorified on the internet though :)
At least IRL, you're reminded by the reality that they make the entire surrounding area smell like absolute shit.
