Far-right senator banned from leaving country as supreme court judge’s ruling makes reference to money-laundering case

The far-right senator Flávio Bolsonaro was banned from leaving Brazil and ordered to surrender his passports just hours after his dramatic loss in the presidential election to the leftist president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

The ruling was issued by supreme court justice Alexandre de Moraes, the same justice who oversaw the trial of the senator’s father, the former president Jair Bolsonaro, for attempting a coup.

Bolsonaro posted a video saying the decision was based on an interview his brother, Eduardo Bolsonaro, gave last Friday urging his brother to leave Brazil if he lost the election.

Bolso Jr was under investigation for sometime now over massive corruption scandals and embezzlement, even before his father's presidency - which Bolso Sr then leaned on the courts to lay off at the time.

When Bolso Sr lost the presidency, the courts were back to investigating the corruption.

Bolso Jr then ran for presidency hoping for immunity and a self pardon (and pardon for Sr.). That's why his brother said that if he loses, he has to run away. Not that there would be "retribution" (which Brazil Magats are calling it) but because it's been a years long investigation and Jr has run out of rocks to hide under.

Just imagine if you had someone like that running a country!

Despite what the title implies, it's not clear because the order is classified right now.

But Flavio is being investigated by every crime you can think of and some you can't. So, it's useless to speculate too...
