I miss the days when wanabe dictators would flee for Russia…

[–] bold_atlas@lemmy.world 22 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (2 children)

We've always collected them. The Shah, Batista, Santa Anna, the police chief who executed a prisoner in Saigon, President Thieu, that dumb woman who thought she would get put in power in Venezuela if she gave Trump her Nobel Peace prize.

We almost had Napoleon I too (that would have been pretty cool though)

She's back in Venezuela.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 5 days ago (2 children)

isnt she in control of venezuela right now.

[–] kiwifoxtrot@lemmy.world 12 points 5 days ago (1 children)

No, the same party is in control. Basically nothing changed.

[–] nilloc@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 5 days ago

Except the oil revenue the us is stealing to pay for the bombs it dropped on them.

Madero's vice president is now president of Venezuela. A different woman.

All pre-negotiated before hand. A fake military operation with real bombs and victims.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

Idi Amin spent the last couple of decades of his life in Saudi Arabia. I can't think of anything that Saudi Arabia has in common with Russia ...

Slaughtering those that oppose their despotic rule?

I bonesaw what you did there.

I can’t think of anything that Saudi Arabia has in common with Russia …

The prosperity of both seem to have a lot to do with oil exports.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 0 points 5 days ago (1 children)

SA is worst off, thier only export is oil, thats why they are desperately trying to diversify, sportswashing, buying games,,,etc. russia as other resources besides oil.

[–] ms_lane@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

russia as other resources besides oil

Such as?

I don't think krokodil is considered a 'resource'.

Natural gas ... although that's not exactly "diversification" from oil.
