Its clear that Democrats are now the center (maybe center-right) party and there is no mainstream liberal party in the US

I think the last one was probably Bill Clinton? Pretty much since 9/11, America has moved towards the right and continues to do so. The Overton window had shifted so much for America over the last few decades.

Clinton was just as much a neoliberal as Reagan. He gets a pass though because was charismatic and was the president during the dot-com boom/bubble.
