forced down our throat by being cast in every single movie that's released

This is just one of the dumbest things I've ever read. The man's only been in 14 movies over the past 5 years. Something like 1500 major studio productions were released over that time. Why do you keep choosing to shove Pedro Pascal down your own throat?

[–] skisnow@lemmy.ca 18 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (1 children)

It seems like he's in a lot of things, because the things he appears in tend to be good, and he's good in them.

I saw the same complaint about Rami Malek a while back, and his imdb profile is relatively sparse for a two-decade acting career. He just happens to be memorable.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 8 points 4 months ago (2 children)

I've heard the same said about John Malkovich, even though he's hardly in anything really. But when he is in a movie it's always good.

[–] skisnow@lemmy.ca 7 points 4 months ago (1 children)

The average count of John Malkoviches per movie poster was quite high in the late 90s...

[–] TheBat@lemmy.world 7 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Being John Malkovich is an outlier and should not have been counted.

[–] GreyEyedGhost@lemmy.ca 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

The whole meta because he was in so many movies makes it required to be on the list, imo.

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

I loved him in that movie where he played a jewel thief.

If this was Reddit 6 years ago, I’d give you a star. ⭐️

Only 14 movies in the past 5 years? Only?! Do you understand how insanely high that number is? lol. Most big actors do like 1 a year.

[–] protist@mander.xyz 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Went back and looked again, it was actually 14 over 6 years, but 2 of those were short films, one was just a cameo, and one was a voice role. So it's actually 10 movies over the last 6 years, or 1.7 movies per year, that has you so upset. And you're clearly upset coming back to this thread 4 days after it died

And you’re clearly upset coming back to this thread 4 days after it died

lol what type of ridiculous logic is this? You think I'm upset because I....checks notes....replied to people that replied to my comment the next time I came to this website? Explain that one to me please.

Why are you so upset that some people are sick of pedro pascal? You're clearly upset coming back to this thread 4 days after it died.

[–] protist@mander.xyz 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

the next time I came to this website?

This is easily proven to be a lie by looking at your comment history. You've really let Pedro Pascal get under your skin, huh

[–] FreedomAdvocate -1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Go on, look at my comment history :). There was a single comment on a day where I didn’t post in this thread. I hadn’t replied to the dozen comments that replied to my posts because I had stuff in the real world take priority over Lemmy (hard to believe for you since you seem to think every poster in here dedicates their life to Lemmy lol)

[–] protist@mander.xyz 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

How embarrassing, I can't tell whether you're lying to me or lying to yourself

[–] FreedomAdvocate 1 points 4 months ago

I see you don’t know how calendars and dates work lol

[–] Deebster@infosec.pub -3 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (3 children)

Huh, when you put it that way it sounds like a lot - three films a year ~~for a decade and a half~~, plus the Mandalorian, etc.

As with almost everything, I reckon the truth is in the middle - that there's a tribal backlash by those that consider "woke" a slur, and it's being amplified by those who are genuinely overexposed to him.

[–] Brekky@lemmy.world 11 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Decade and a half? You mean half a decade?

[–] Deebster@infosec.pub 2 points 4 months ago

Oops, no idea where that came from, unless the 1500 films bit confused my subconscious.

[–] jatone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Sounds like you seek out his content to be honest.

[–] Deebster@infosec.pub 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I think you have me confused with a different poster. (I just checked and I've seen him in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Gladiator II and Mandalorian)

[–] jatone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 4 months ago

indeed you are correct. i swear lemmy has a off by one bug or something in comment replies lol. apologies for the noise.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

A decade is 10 years, he only really arrived on the scene 5 years ago, where's the other 15 years coming from?

[–] Deebster@infosec.pub 3 points 4 months ago

Your maths is as bad as mine - a decade and a half is 15 years, so I added 10 not 15.
