2 Timothy 3:2 "For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy." - NKJV
No matter your belief, this is a sign of the times, I truly believe that the rot of the Western world has accelerated. In the US in particular.
Edit to ask the downvoters why you don't like it when I share a Bible verse to talk about the decay of society, but when I go HURR DURR DEMENTIA DORITO BAD you lap it up like cats with milk? Donald Trump is evil, and has used the Bible and manipulated "Christians" to vote for him.
If someone actually looks at the words of Jesus, He calls you away from the ways of the world, and to treat one another with kindness. It's one of the only commandments He gives.
Furthermore, one can look at the Bible through a secular lens, and see truths about human nature, as at the very least, the Bible can be considered a form of historical document, don't you understand that?
Signed, a rational Christian who denounces the ways of the world and actually believes in scientific truth.
Nobody needs an old story book to know how to be a good person. The issue lies not with a lack of bibles, but with a manufactured lack of social cohesion. Years of propaganda against socialism and unions have lured a big part of the US population in a trap of "hyperindiviualism", where you are preyed upon if you don't play the same game of "me first".
Fixing this needs politicians that come from the people and work for the people, but the rich part of society has undermined the (sadly bad designed) process where such people can rise up into positions where they can make decisions. The common folk is under permanent attack by the 0.1%, and many of them (see MAGA) don't even recognize from where the systematic violence they are experiencing comes, because they get fed that socialism is the thing that oppresses them.
If you add religion to this cocktail, it acts like adding a hypergolic fuel into a house fire. It gets instrumentalised to create an in-group and to define an outgroup. Religion is not the way out.
The US are in quite a pickle, and from the outside i don't see many peaceful ways out of this situation.
Addressing your first sentence specifically, do you not value the lessons myths and legends teach?
As for the rest, I made another comment, the United States (and every other society for that matter) has the choice of ballots or bullets. If the first stop working, then the Second Amendment comes into play.
You get down voted because the goat herder's guide to the galaxy isn't relevant to anything.
May I ask your philosophical outlook on things?
Edit to add that the Bible IS relevant to the discussion of our existence here, given that billions of people believe in it, rightly or wrongly. Just as you believe in the reality of your senses and sensibility.
No they don't.
Please note that I didn't state the execution of their belief was accurate.
contradiction in terms
On the contrary, I exist, therefore not a contradiction in terms.
Unless of course you think I'm some existentialist figment of your imagination?
Rather, the contradiction means you're wrong about one or both of those labels. But I doubt you haven't heard all that before.
Would you call Isaac Newton irrational? Would you call Mr. Rogers irrational?
You'd compare yourself to them with a straight face? I must be the Pope.
No, I'm asking you if you know a rational Christian when you were given examples of them.
The guy who invented calculus, and the guy who made millions of children happy by telling them they were worthy both strike me as rational beings, wouldn't you agree?
Both of them were Christians.
newton did not invent calculus.
while he discovered it around the same time, Leibniz invented the notation we use today.
One can be the co-creator of something, via independent discovery. My statement still stands.
i guess your kinda right :)
but ngl i would totally call newton irrational, that man had issues.
Yeah, by all accounts, Newton was a bit of shit. He did a proper number on Robert Hook.
That verse could be cited at any point in history to show civilization's "rot". The problem we have now is capitalism, not that we are unholy or whatever.
Thank you for stating why I posted the verse. I'm glad someone could figure it out.
Retard
I see that your username is on point.
AIs are out calling people retards? Link?
Or is this a weak bitch response from an unoriginal hack that can't write a clever response?
No really, point me in the direction of the retard bots, I'd love to see this!
May God bring peace to your life. Performing for the adulation of the mob isn't worth it, trust me.
How old is planet earth?
4.5 billion years or so.
