- This is an English-language community. Comments should be in English. Posts can link to non-English news sources when providing a full-text translation in the post description. Automated translations are fine, as long as they don't overly distort the content.
- No links to misinformation or commercial advertising. When you post outdated/historic articles, add the year of publication to the post title. Infographics must include a source and a year of creation; if possible, also provide a link to the source.
- Be kind to each other, and argue in good faith. Don't post direct insults nor disrespectful and condescending comments. Don't troll nor incite hatred. Don't look for novel argumentation strategies at Wikipedia's List of fallacies.

So what they want is just at odds with the survival of our civilization. It would be utterly self-destructive to allow that. One can only hope that more "natural" gas facilities explode. As with coal, the only natural place for it is in the ground.
One thing one can do as in individual is consumer's boycott. In our home, we have gradually reduced the heating temperature from 21°C to 18°C. Together with that we moved to a flat with much better insolation, that has cut our heating costs flat out to half - from a 50% of the costs in addition to rent to a mere 20%. It took a little getting used to, I put on a sweater at home and use a blanket when working in home office. But that's a small price when it means that fewer young men, women and childs are killed in Ukraine.
We also placed a flexible camping dish tub in the kitchen sink which only requires 5 liters of warm water instead of 12. Again, a small change but effecting real savings.
And is it so important that we have a surplus of hot water? As long as humanity still needs fuel, it is probably needed more elsewhere. Perhaps some girl in India can be taken to a hospital in time instead. It is a wonderful truth of life that indeed everything is connected. What we do matters.
And last not least, the move has enabled my partner to get rid of her car because of better connections. Again, a lot of money saved.
And any money saved on fuel means also: Less money to companies, people and states which are outright set out to kill us. Why should we pay for crimes against us?
All that is, of course, not a substitute for taking to the streets. It is wrong to behave passively when our civilization is under attack. But money talks too, and it is the only language that some people understand.
