I read his little -open source runs on good faith- essay. I find it pretty ironic when he says "A healthy project allows someone to occasionally be wrong, awkward, inexperienced, tired or ill without immediately turning that event into a judgement about their character. When someone makes a decision and other people jump to conclusions about transphobia, ableism, etc then it becomes a determinant of someone’s moral value. And that’s toxic."
Pretty hypocritical, considering he banned me almost as soon as I joined piefed back in the early days. It wasn’t based on anything I said or posted. It was based on what other people who disliked me claimed about me.
I’d love for him to point to any quote or post of mine on any instance that was actually ban-worthy.

I seem to remember some backlash against Rimu before for acting shitty (though I don't remember what for off the top of my head) that was quickly overshadowed and forgotten about because of the Tesseract debacle. I have a conspiracy theory that the modlog is made to suck on purpose. Why else do they mix good mod actions (featuring and unfeaturing posts) with bad ones (banned from community) or don't have a filter by comm or a better user search or how mods can purge a user and it doesn't make it into the log at all or how some instances have seemingly made theirs worse by removing the few options we have on that page.

iirc there's third party mod tools for Lemmy/PieFed that supposedly improve it a lot. I don't use them or can link them but I remember seeing a few.
