I could write a whole essay about my own conflicting feelings toward my own 90s nostalgia.
Same. I do tend to wrap myself up in a bubble of nostalgia to cope with things, but I do try and branch out and try new things when I'm feeling it.
same, I try to be open minded to newer stuff, though I find it’s hard to crack open new franchises that you know are going to be a big time investment, also don’t want to rush through stuff either, I browse and post a lot of art of characters from games or anime Ive never watched or played but that’s one way to familiarize with what’s out there at least (it’s fun to browse art regardless)
nostalgia is also a bit of a filter, we only remember the good stuff from the 90s,
there were plenty of shitty slop we collectively forgot about.
I proudly declare I have not watched Stranger Things, but also same.. it’s an interesting topic

not a bad show, miss even kid aimed media had stakes, creativity and didn't assume the kids watching were idiots.
that horror episode was intense and my 6 years old didn't even flinch watching, she earned a lot of street creed from hey 9 year old sister who picks on her but had to run away from the episode.
out of the many characters I didn’t recognize on the collage, that one seemed most intriguing so I checked 15 mins of the trailer and I dunno it’s definitely captivating but also has a slight ‘cant escape this’ psychological/doomer aspect so far, but I guess dystopia (and also self referencing/self deprecation quips) is a running theme in most recent media
