I guess. He is also just ancient, unhealthy and has the mindset of a greedy self-service capitalist. So what he is doing I think could be adequately explained by age, poor health, and not being able to bully Iran into giving him what he wants. He's flailing about like a toddler having a tantrum.

We need to be careful, here. Certainly he's still carrying childhood psychological wounds, and IMO, a part of this is because the things he says and does are simply how supremacists in general, and wealth supremacists specifically, condition their ~~extensions~~ children to think and behave, at least privately. But Trump, even being old money, for some reason seems to have behaved and spoken in a manner more aligned with the nouveau riche, ostentatious and vulgar. I've read that the Palm Beach residents, specifically those of means sufficient to have purchased Mar-a-Lago (had they wanted it), were very disdainful of the Trump family, and this resulted in narcissistic re-wounding of childhood wounds resulting from his parents, so that when he obtained the means to purchase the estate, he was still snubbed by them, but because money is money, eventually warmed up to them. Whether this gossip reporting is exactly true or not, they certainly all seem to be, at least publicly.

if he did, it doesn't really matter. the president merely has to serve as the public face of the bourgeois dictatorship. even if some other ghoul were at the top, the empire would propably do most of the same things it does currently.
