A 31 didn't become a teenager until the late 00s
Suburbs 31. Back then it took a few years for the culture to permeate into the breeding grid

Actually if we wanted to be pedantic, (and why else are we here?) we could argue this is too wide a spread and encompasses multiple mini-generations. For example I loved MSI and Foamy and Tenacious D, but I was already in high school when Pick of Destiny came out and likewise I hated Happy Tree Friends as I felt it was both awful and mostly for younger kids (who shouldn't have been watching it, but it beats rotten.com and some of the other early Internet stuff they missed the boat on, but I digress...) This covers a wide spread of the early and mid to late 2000s and that doesn't seem like much from an outside perspective but this was back when years felt a proper length.
MSI... there's a name I've not heard in forever (beyond my laptop, that is). That was a fun group for a time. And Neurotically Yours I had all of.

I'm having a hard time finding a good picture, but I had a whole wall of Frankenstein Girls lyrics written in silver sharpie.
I think that bottom picture gets the message across juuuust fine.

Me too. This was their best album, IMO. I genuinely love half the tracks, and listen to many of them regularly.
It was eligibly the most expensive and ridiculously produced album of all time. It’s their best album because nobody ever trusted them with their wallet like that again, lol.

I'll give you Bawls and Pixie Sticks as for wannabe edgy kids, but DDR was mostly otaku and otaku adjacent.
I got really good at the DDR knockoff where you waved your hands over sensors so I could play it on my break at the mall and not get sweaty.
I thought I looked so cool tryharding that techno hand-jive.

That Happy Tree Friends episode where the elk had to amputate it's leg with a spoon, only to realize he did the wrong one when he was finished, still follows me :D
The one that still follows me is the girl animal (don't remember which) who has germ-phobia and scratches off her skin with steel wool. :3
JTHM was great; it actually mercilessly mocked the darklings who were its nominal following, unlike a lot of more pandering goth comics that mixed the gentlest digs at pretentiousness/formulaic music/ridiculous dance moves/wretched poetry with stock tropes (vampires, New Orleans, beauty-in-darkness). Vasquez was the kind of cranky bastard who could really write.
Donnie Darko was, IMHO, hugely overrated. It felt like a student filmmaker trying to do a David Lynch impression, overseasoning it with Hot Topic angst, missing, and somehow getting lucky. Given how his subsequent film, Southland Tales, fell flat, that’s probably not inaccurate.

Just a little after my teen years, but HTF and Bawls (grabbed while in the checkout line at Fry's Electronics) bring up some memories. And... is that Pixie Stix? If so, the 60s through the 90s would like a word.
Oh sure, you all had Happy Tree Friends, but some of us were on next-level shit with R-slur Animal Babies
I haven't been in a while, but a couple years ago, you could still find Bawls at Microcenter of all places.
