In Botany, Watermelons and Tomatoes are both categorized as Berries, along with pumpkins, avocados, cucumbers and bananas. Strawberries, raspberries and blackberries, however, are not.
This is outrageous, it’s unfair
I understand the strawberries. But I thought the reasoning was the seeds are on the outside. Now you have me wondering where the seeds are in raspberries. I thought those were internal... Shit
If I recall correctly, for strawberries, each seed is an individual "fruit", and the tasty juicy part is just an accessory or something.
I think raspberries and blackberries are classified as a bunch of fruits stuck together or something...
Everybody discussing whether or not tomatoes are a fruit, meanwhile, mushrooms hanging out with the vegetables, despite not even being a plant.
"vegetable" doesn't mean "plant" the same way "fruit" doesn't mean "not a vegetable."
Knowledge it is, to know a fruit, you are. Wisdom it is, to put you in our fruit salad, we must not.
INT: knowing tomatoes are fruits
WIS: understanding that they don't belong in a fruit salad
CHA: doing it anyway and selling it as 'salsa'
Cooking is all made up anyways. Plus "you wouldn't put it in a fruit salad" sounds like an argument made up purely to counter the pedantry of bringing up botany definitions. Like the first one ("these are actually fruits/berries!") seems like fun and interesting while "but you wouldn't put them in a fruit salad" just seems like a lame one up from someone who needs to get the last word in, like they need to warn people against making tomato pies or some shit where understanding the botany definition is dangerous to cooking.
A fruit, knowledge it is, to know you are. Our fruit salad, wisdom it is, to not put you in.

I was told advocado is a fruit when I couldn't find it on the self checkout (fruits/vegetables) and I said something like has it changed again? She said she always thought it was a fruit so I cheesily asked if she put advocado in her fruit salad and she said Yes!
It was a nice informal fun banter chit chat but now I wonder if it's not a good idea...
Has anyone tried advocado in their fruit salad?
