Vance: I'm trying to focus on doing as much of God's work as possible.

Name one thing that he has done that the bible god wants done

[–] mushroommunk@lemmy.today 9 points 1 day ago

I mean, supposedly, bringing about the end of the world is what American Christian god wants.

So if you kill yourself to go to heaven, that is a sin so you go to hell. On the other hand, if you do things to bring on the end times that's okay. So is he saying in the first scenario you can't fool god, but in the second you can. Time for a new god ... or better yet, none at all.

Bringing about the end times is ALSO not allowed: "But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son,[a] but the Father only..."

These people are dangerous weirdos who don't even read their own fucking book.

Dispensationalist losers

He thinks it'll let him hang out with Erika without Usha getting in the way.

[–] rozodru@piefed.world 6 points 1 day ago (3 children)

this is how I know he's not the next pick for them. By now they would have forced him to end the marriage to Usha and shacked him up with Erika. they haven't pulled that trigger yet, so he's not next in line.

How about if old Couch Fucker brings about his own personal end times?

[–] Maestro@fedia.io 7 points 1 day ago (3 children)

I am convinced that extreme evangelical shitheads like him want to bring about the end times because getting raptured is their shot at getting into heaven without actually having to die first. Jesus comes and takes you to heaven without all that nasty dying business.

[–] DudeImMacGyver@kbin.earth 7 points 1 day ago (2 children)

"None of you are going to heaven."

-God or Bo Burnham or something, idk

“Sure, I’d be okay with the world ending because of my actions, since I believe in a fictional character written by bored people 2000 years ago.”

This guy’s skull is an empty lot.

I think bringing about the end times might actually be the goal of this administration

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Not just this administration...

https://www.britannica.com/topic/new-religious-movement

Netflix made a doc called "The Family" about that group. They started in 1935 and are Christian extremists who want the apocalypse to happen while they're alive so they can be raptured instead of dying.

Most people only know them from "the national prayer breakfast" something most of our politicians (regardless of party) attend and is treated like an official event and not pancakes with a death cult for our nations leaders.

[–] peopleproblems@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

"Pancakes with a Death Cult" would be a great historical analysis book title.
