Nice to finally see footage, but a rather disappointing Direct as usual. Maybe tomorrow's will be better.

EDIT: It was not.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, overall an "okay" Direct. Ocarina of Time remake looks great though!

I was hoping for more of a re-imagining than just a graphical upgrade, but I'd pay $60 physical for it since I like the game so much. Hopefully Amazon will price it that way.

I think it's nice that they have stuck as close to original as possible, but I skipped most of the demo and the trailer. Going to play it anyway, so decided to discover things while playing.

BTW it's $60 digital, $70 physical officially. Don't know how Amazon price these things though.

Amazon and Walmart have both been pricing their physical Switch 2 games at the digital price.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

That's nice!

I would love to see an announcement fora Zelda 1 and/or Zelda 2 remake with the BOTW engine.

Link

He come to town

Come to save

The princess Zelda

Ganon took her away, now the children don't play

But they will, when Link saves the day

HALLELUJAH

Now Link

Fill up your hearts

So you can shoot

Your sword with power

And when you're feeling all down, the fairy will come around

So you'll be brave, and not a sissy coward

Now Link

Has saved the day

Put Ganon is his grave

So now Zelda is free, and now a hero shall be

Link

I think your name shall go down into history!

Sleeper agent activated holy shit

Seriously, not heard this in maybe 20 years but recognized it instantly

One of those random tracks downloaded off of limewire. Always thought it was System of A Down because that's what it was labeled as.

[–] mrmaplebar@fedia.io 3 points 1 week ago

Hell yeah, "System of a Down"!

[–] Feyd@programming.dev 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Huh I was wondering why people here were saying System of a Down when I knew it from OCRemix. Even the OCRemix page has a comment about it.

https://ocremix.org/remix/OCR00022

NOTE(!): This ReMix is NOT by System of a Down, as a few hundred of you have written in suggesting, but by The Rabbit Joint, as indicated. Please don't mail me - I've checked with The Rabbit Joint and verified with two dozen hardcore fans on SoaD's website. This song has been incorrectly labeled as being by SoaD by someone who then perpetuated the error by sharing the file on Napster. Case closed :)

Yeah, the old Napster/Limewire days were rife with people labeling any kind of parody or meme song as being written by Weird Al or SoaD. Probably because they had the name recognition and would actually show up in search results. And it was just plausible enough that they might make a song like this.

Weird Al even went on the record to say that he absolutely hated the trend. Because a lot of the parody songs that were misattributed to him were very vulgar, and he historically avoided things like excess profanity so his music would be safe for kids.

Also, I’m amazed OCRemix is still around. Pretty sure half of the music on my original iPod Shuffle came from that site.

I tend to call that section of history the Contextless Era.

A lot of folks got their music from P2P software, and a lot of stuff got mislabeled. There's a lot of people who to this day think Metallica recorded a heavy metal version of Carol of the Bell (Metallica has nothing to do with the Trans Siberian Orchestra), or that The End Of The World was made by Group X. ANY prank phone call recording was attributed to the Jerky Boys, ANY male stand-up comedian but especially Bill Engval was atribbuted to Jeff Foxworthy, and ANY comedy music especially parodies were attributed to Weird Al.

Except for a recording of the Hyrule Overture with invented lyrics. That got attributed to System of a Down, entirely because of a resemblance to the lead singer's voice.

And that's just what Limewire did to us. It's been said that the modern internet is just 5 websites full of screenshots of the other 4. Yeah, Newgrounds, Ebaumsworld, YTMND, to an extent the Something Awful Forums and a few others constantly outright stole each other's content. Just...re-uploaded the flash animations.

https://rainwave.cc/ocremix/ is cool if you just want you hear random ones without diving into the songs. There are so many now

[–] Carl@anarchist.nexus 1 points 1 week ago

Just looked up some of the songs on my old playlists, and they were all tracks numbered in the mid/low hundreds. There are +4800 remixes now.

With the OoT remake recently announced, and a 2nd remake being announced being unlikely, I'm hoping this at least announces TP on the GameCube VC.

[–] Trex202@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Probably The Legend of Zelda remake done up like Link's Awakening

Should be the Oracle games done up like LInk's Awakening.

[–] JRaccoon@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

There will also be a "normal" Direct the next day.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Yeah, made a separate post for that.

[–] ladel@feddit.uk 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Is there a new Soul Calibur game that they can stick Link into again? That would be cool.

[–] slimerancher@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

No, last one was Soul Calibur 6. Hoping for a new one soon.

[–] ParadoxSeahorse@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Just give me more Zelda as Zelda, fuck Link
