Donald Trump on Sunday called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to halt strikes on Russian diesel, saying the attacks are causing a fuel shortage.

Ukraine’s long-range strikes have been targeting Russia’s oil and gas industry for months, which Kyiv says both funds and directly fuels Moscow’s more than four-year-old invasion of its neighbor.

The Ukrainian drone campaign has caused fuel rationing across Russia, despite the country being a key oil and gas exporter. Other Ukrainian strikes targeted major Russian online retailers, bringing the war ever closer to the public.

It would be very funny if Zelenskyy (or really, any other NATO or allied head of state) called on orangeboi to halt strikes on Iranian oil infrastructure, saying the attacks are causing a fuel shortage

Scapegoat for November midterms elections

That's rich. What's hurting US prices more, Trump's war on Iran or Putin's war on Ukraine?

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 32 points 6 days ago (1 children)

That's what got me about it too, but Donald isn't exactly one for thinking things through.

[–] huppakee@lemmy.world 22 points 6 days ago

He's one for finding scapegoats tho

Well, Putin's war had a major impact in that oil companies realized they could arbitrarily jack up prices and blame it on Russia.

Funny. I call on Russia to fuck off out of Ukraine

Seems like a great way for their precious oil infrastructure to stay safe

Looks like America doesn't have any cards. Have they even thanked Zelensky once?

It shouldn't cause a shortage, unless you're buying Russian fuel...

Get the fuck over it. Also shut up.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 16 points 5 days ago

Russia is offering nothing at all for this, by the way. Also, they could have this tomorrow by withdrawing.

I am shocked but not surprised that Trump has decided Ukraine is at fault for the skyrocketing cost of fuel. The only really "surprising" part is that he didn't try to blame Biden.

Presumably, there is a wheel or dartboard, or bingo ball dispenser full of Trump's perceived enemies somewhere and when a problem becomes too big to ignore or gaslight Americans about, they just pull it out.

Slava Ukraini!!

[–] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 10 points 5 days ago

Has Trump cleverly extracted a concession from Russia? No? Okay, let the destruction of oil infrastructure continue.
