We should just start building guillotines and placing them in town squares. Just as, like, a message.

[–] turtlesareneat@discuss.online 10 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I got banned from the r-place for saying something like this.

Carry on.

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 6 points 6 days ago

Some of the lemmy.world moderators come down hard on "calling for violence". It's kind of an eye roller

We have never not needed these.

We just forgot that they are required.

I'm sure the French could give us some pointers though.

He is completely wrong, while being right too. Americans could benefit from a better diet.

Maybe the American government could provide proper health care and not support junk food industry.

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 19 points 6 days ago (5 children)

Americans could benefit from a better diet.

Sadly, yes, living a healthier lifestyle is going to be a person's best option in the wake of health care being even more enshittified.

Hard to do in a nation where there are food deserts, gym memberships a luxury, and the nearest health care provider is upwards of 50 miles away.

This, to me, stinks of the same garbage people are fed about recycling, when we all know that it's the billionaire class and their institutional, astronomical waste and energy usage that is the real problem, not individuals tossing out the dozen soda cans they drink in a week.

yeah taking out the grain subsidies and moving them over to fruit and veg based on lowness of sugar content and highness of fiber and nutrient content. That might be something to do.

Yes. Let's actually put some reigns on the food industry, sugar in bread is not normal. Also walkable places that have public transport, but the Auto and Food industries have the Government of America by the short and curlies.

LET THEM EAT CAKE!

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 45 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Modern "Let them eat cake."

These people are so fucking out of touch.

[–] M0oP0o@mander.xyz 12 points 6 days ago

This is somehow worse, the "let them eat cake" was said from a very out of touch person who just did not understand. While this is comming from someone who willingly is going out of their way to blame the peasants for the actions that they are doing to those same peasants.

[–] hopesdead@startrek.website 25 points 6 days ago (6 children)

He needs to open a history textbook book.

[–] Vanilla_PuddinFudge@infosec.pub 3 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

He isn't ignorant. He doesn't care. He's vindictively robbing all of us blind. They don't think any of this will be beneficial to any of us. We are not even a consideration.

None of these greedy fucks are doing any of this because they're incompetent. They're doing it for $$$ and control, and they'll get it, because we're all still typing paragraphs into a social media site instead of murdering all of them.

I don't think people understand how fucked people who don't fit the societal mold of how their body or mind should function are here in the US, things are about to get very grim in the US, much grimmer than they were. The center of this society has decided what they don't like about Trump and fascism are primarily its harsh tone as he and other rightwing nutjobs murder us. The expression of how little I am worth to the society around me is not lost on me, it is only lost on the centrists who tone police me for being negative about my future.

What societies like mine do as they collapse is tend to see diversity as a threat to the survival of the society, including cognitive diversity. This is a phenomena old as time and centrists have NEVER resisted it once. As someone with severe ADHD it is crystal clear to me a brickwall is heading at me and I know especially with my executive dysfunction there is no way I am dodging it.

I have never been able to hide, if you have a brain like me you knew from a young age it was dangerous to let people think you did weird things because they felt normal to you, so you became the class clown and learned to love it even even as deep down you remember that lesson in your bones you can never forgot. If I let people see how chaotic my brain really is, as in what I turned into a joke was truly me just reacting to my own impulsivenes with clever impulsiveness, they will insist on hurting me, "I have to make this goofy or I will be hurt" is the way I survived.

The thing is, there are no class clowns left in a fascist society, so in a way this is me saying goodbye. I will still be present here for a long time yet, but the true me is dying right now. I am not a creature that can hide, people burst out laughing when I do and then an ache in my soul reminds me of the lesson I can never forget.

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 5 points 6 days ago

No man, Yesterday I only didn't eat 3 cakes and I was able to run a 12 mile drive to work... In my car! The other weekend I didn't eat a wedding cake and that cured my diabetes that In didn't even have!

[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 17 points 6 days ago

"Let them not eat cake!"

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 27 points 6 days ago

Gall stones? Cancer? Parkinsons? Broke your arm? In a car crash?

Eat less cake, peasants.

[–] WrenFeathers@lemmy.world 19 points 6 days ago (1 children)

How has that piece of shit not lost his title? Stop calling that imposter a Doctor.

[–] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 13 points 6 days ago (5 children)

Have Dr Phil and Dr Oz ever had a fake doctor-off? It can be judged by Judge Judy and Bill Nye.

[–] Aspharr@lemmy.world 7 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (5 children)

Time out, why the hate for Bill Nye? Did I miss something or is this just a joke on "people who are less qualified than their titles lead you to believe"? If so, then carry on.

On first read it sounds more like a list of shitty charlatans, of which I wouldn't really apply to Bill even if he's not as qualified as he would imply.

[–] ghen@sh.itjust.works 4 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (2 children)

I would say, pleasantly, that Bill Nye suffers from one of the classic blunders of academia. Just because you're smart about one specific niche subject in one specific niche field doesn't mean you are smart about every subject in every field. Most scientists are quite honestly just as knowledgeable as the rest of us in any field that they didn't academically study. That sounds like common sense, but once you have a PhD on your name you kind of forget it.

Bill Nye is an expert mechanical engineer, and a middling to decent planetologist. Any subject beyond that and he's just as good as you or me even though he speaks with an authoritative voice.

[–] turtlesareneat@discuss.online 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I felt like he started in the tradition of Mr. Wizard, who himself was a teacher who didn't know the intricacies of every science, but knew how to put together a fantastic and accurate demonstration.

But I think Nye is doing talk shows and shit now, which Mr. Wizard, I don't think, would have tried to sell himself the same way. He really sold education.

Mary Antionette: "Let them eat cake."

"Dr." Oz: "Let them stop eating cake."

[–] AcidiclyBasicGlitch@sh.itjust.works 17 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I know many red states have been trying to defend Republican Medicaid cuts by blaming residents for being unhealthy.

"We tried to give you healthcare, but it wasn't sustainable bc y'all just don't know how to take care of yourselves."

The cost being unsustainable is pure bullshit anyway, but even if that were true, the idea that when looking at the cost of covering healthcare in the United States, their go to argument for why it's so expensive, places the blame on the patients for needing healthcare.

As if nobody has ever pointed out side by side bills comparing the cost of the same hospital stays in the U.S. vs just about any other county.

Peak authoritarian government acting like a narcissistic parent and gaslighting America into believing the reason they can't take care of their kids is bc the kids are at fault. Not bc they just suck as a parent and shouldn't have kids if they can't take care of them.

[–] Aspharr@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

And the rich part is that if they wanted to go down the route of "healthcare is expensive because America is overall unhealthy" that's "fine". As the folks in charge do something about it?

Invest in better education on the importance of proper diet and exercise. Invest in providing cheaper and more readily available whole foods. Subsidized or provide classes that teach people how to actually cook. Do the things that would actually help "make America healthy again" instead of worrying about fucking food dyes and weather or not a trans person is getting healthcare.

If they did that while spouting that kinda bullshit at least they would be intellectually consistent, but they don't and that's how you know they're full of shit.

[–] Oyml77@lemmy.today 17 points 6 days ago

With rhetotic like that, "Dr." Oz may need to start worrying about neck cuts.

[–] Estiar@sh.itjust.works 9 points 6 days ago

J'ai des rêves de expulser toute l'administration tout de suite

[–] iAvicenna@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago

"If they can't find healthcare let them not eat cake".

He will be noted in history books to come. What a legacy.

[–] nthavoc@lemmy.today 10 points 6 days ago

Another notch for "The Age of Irony" in American History. "Let them eat less cake" sounds like a good opener too.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 8 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Funnily enough, just had an exchange with someone here about doctors needing to always be empathetic towards their patients so they can't say "get fucked, fascists" and such.

Dr. Oz is a still practicing (to maintain his license) cardiovascular surgeon.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 5 points 6 days ago

he needs to upkeep the image that he can sell snakesoil to the plebs. its the same thing "llmd" for the fake disease "chronic lyme" sells pseduoscience to patients, they are even more dangerous oz.

[–] mhague@lemmy.world 11 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I would try cannibalism and eat this man. I think human skin is close enough to pig skin to for us to harvest MAGA bacon.

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 5 points 6 days ago (2 children)

I can say confidently there isn't a person in this administration I would eat. with the rampant drug use and sex trafficking I don't even want to look at their diseased riddled bodies.

I think he'd get along great with my old dentist. The guy gave me a bad crown, then when I complained about it, it was "eat less chocolate" and "you just need to floss more."

[–] LettyWhiterock@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Let them eat something else

[–] Gaylactus@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Well, there was a trend among anti-vaxxers to eat dirt and drink piss. So I guess that's covered!

[–] londos@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

Everyone should arbitrarily start boycotting Cheesecake Factory based on this. Eat less cake? OK. Let businesses start complaining. Every service cut should be met with additional consumer strikes.
