Bunified Ixtensible OEM-firmware interfaSe

it's really quite simple. The B is silent because it is French.

I'd been saying BIOS for decades before UEFI became the norm. Yes, I know it's no longer BIOS. No, I don't care. As far as I am concerned, anyone pedantic enough to nitpick about it is doing me a favor. They are identifying themselves as someone I don't want to be around.

When it does matter, my pronunciation is "you-fee"

I am just gonna say BIOS in english because to this day i have no idea how to pronounce UEFI, fucking english...

/uefi/ in my language

I like UEFI because of the way it sounds. I bet most non-native English speakers agree on it's pronunciation.

Lately I've been bending people's names in cursive writing style out of coathanger wire.

The last name I made, I did not post. Why? I have no clue how to pronounce it..

Ogbuefi

[–] UnLocoPoco@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Nah. For me that was the "version" of bios in which I could finally use my mouse to select stuff

It's like the One Piece character's name, "Luffy" but without the "L".
