I'm from the bad old days when kids rode bicycles without helmets or parents.
Two neighborhood kids got creamed by a pickup truck. As a coincidence my family drove past the scene shortly afterwards and I'll never forget the surreal color of blood soaking through the sheets covering their bodies. I'm really glad I didn't know it was my friends when I saw it.
Ridiculous, my power to weight ratio is all kinds of fucked up thanks to needless safety devices, and how am I supposed to get good aerodynamics when I'm only allowed to cripple children and not outright murder them when I hit them?!
Abandon your futile pursuit of aerodynamics in favor of sheer child-murdering mass.

Oh come on, they do drive slightly slower around schools. If that's not a sacrifice, I don't know what is.

What do you mean, drivers haven't sacrificed anything? Just think of all the playgrounds that could be turned into parking lots!
There definitely should be some things in column B. Those bloodstains aren't easy to get out of the grill, for instance.
Things car drivers see as sacrifices: not allows to roll coal when idling by a school, having to slow down for people to cross the road, sometimes possible parking spaces have bollards in the way.
Freedoms are always a balance between two groups and what we culturally consider a harm or undue burden informs where we draw the line. And a lot of cultures right now are pretty autocratic.
