It’s October, and the political environment is really, really, REALLY bad for the Republican Party.

Let's not forget that the Bulwark is a bunch of never Trumper Republicans. You have to watch what they do through that lens, especially Sarah Longwell. They're allies for now, but they will eventually turn on us.

Reminds me of the Lincoln Project. All repubs are bad.

[–] makyo@lemmy.world 7 points 6 days ago

Agreed, they are at best temporary allies.

And even then we must be careful. Her philosophy of trying to woo disaffected GOPers was directly or indirectly adopted by the Harris campaign in 2024 which I believe to be one of the main things leading to her loss.

Is my enemy's enemy. No more.

What a load of horse shit. Even in the first seven or 10 minutes, everything Hassan piker said was pretty much undone by his own video clip.

The people at the bulwark never miss an opportunity to discuss how they are all former Republicans, and how much they regret Trump. But Piker’s read here is both absurd and sounds like a tantrum. It’s just a bad take.

He accuses, particularly Sarah Longwell, of some sort of unrelenting attack on him, and as someone who watches and reads a lot from the bulwark, I don’t recall her, mentioning him more than once or twice, and only because he was in the news when he was campaigning with Al Sayed in Michigan— when everyone was asking, “what the fuck is Hasan piker doing campaigning with Al Sayed?“. This comes off more like piker heard Sarah Longwell say something not nice about him once, and now he’s mad.

As for piker, he’s got plenty of his own baggage and credibility issues. And if you’re twitch streaming all day long, sometimes you have to drudge the bottom of the barrel for something to fill the time and be mad about.

No, that's what the political consultant class was saying. And the people they were saying that to said, "Who's Hasan Piker".

I don’t recall her, mentioning him more than once or twice

Oh well, if you didn't notice it, it mustn't have happened. Perhaps you didn't see Tim Miller ask her what she thought she was doing. I guess twitter isn't a thing you pay attention to either.

Such as?

Look, I've been a politics and news junkie since the 80's. Hasan is the most talented political commentator I've seen come up since Gore Vidal. They are right to be afraid of him, because he's killing their business model.

With standards so low, it’s hardly a surprise your opinions come straight from the gutter

[–] Freeposity@lemmy.world 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

There's really no need to be insulting and hostile, friend.

[–] eurodyne@piefed.world 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

But condescending and patronizing is acceptable?

[–] Freeposity@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'm sorry you think that was condescending and patronizing. I'm not accustomed to dealing with people who are so sensitive. My apologies.

Perhaps you can explain why you think my standards are low, comparing Hasan to Gore Vidal. Do you even know who Gore Vidal is? Your response makes me think you didn't have a clue.

This is a deflection, sweetheart. And not a very good one, I'm GenX and that sort of whinging has no effect on me.

When narcissists encounter criticism, they often react with a range of intense emotions. Anger and defensiveness are common initial responses, as narcissists perceive criticism as a personal attack on their character or abilities. They may lash out at the person providing the feedback, attempting to discredit or intimidate them to maintain their superior self-image. Additionally, narcissists may experience profound feelings of hurt and wounded pride, as their high sensitivity to criticism leaves them feeling exposed and vulnerable.

Because you didn’t seem to read it the first time

Blame-shifting is another common strategy employed by narcissists when faced with criticism. Rather than accepting responsibility for their mistakes or shortcomings, they may assign fault to others, making them the scapegoat for any negative outcomes. By redirecting the blame, narcissists can maintain their sense of infallibility and avoid the discomfort of admitting their own flaws.

And again you are dodging the questions and instead focusing on irrelevancies.

This is pretty typical behavior for people who criticize Hasan. Instead of engaging in actual dialogue, they get emotional and try to steer the convo into side arguments.

Perhaps you should watch some Hasan on Youtube so you have a better grasp of what he's all about.

Predictably, you seem stuck in a loop

Tu quoque,[a] literally "you, too", is a rhetorical technique that intends to discredit the opponent's argument by attacking the opponent's own personal behaviour and actions as being inconsistent with their argument, so that the opponent appears hypocritical. This specious reasoning is a special type of ad hominem attack. The Oxford English Dictionary cites John Cooke's 1614 stage play The Cittie Gallant as the earliest known use of the term in the English language.[1]

Pretty simple questions. It says a lot that you work so hard to avoid answering, when you could simply ignore instead.

Do you understand why you behave this way? Have you thought about it at all?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sealioning

Sealioning (also sea-lioning and sea lioning) is a type of trolling or harassment that consists of pursuing people with relentless requests for evidence, often tangential or previously addressed, while maintaining a pretense of civility and sincerity ("I'm just trying to have a debate"), and feigning ignorance of the subject matter.[6][7][8][9] It may take the form of "incessant, bad-faith invitations to engage in debate",[10] and has been likened to a denial-of-service attack targeted at human beings.[11] The term originated with a 2014 strip of the webcomic Wondermark by David Malki,[2] which The Independent called "the most apt description of Twitter you'll ever see".[3]

I’m happy to keep pointing out how your argument is logically flawed, how you’re wrong, and to keep repeating everything I’ve said already.

Just let go, little buddy

[–] Freeposity@lemmy.world 0 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

:) you know I played this little game you're attempting probably before you were born.

It's not sealioning to ask the same question again after someone has dodged it. You're the one constantly trying to drag us away from your comment about Hasan that you cannot or will not back up.

[–] eurodyne@piefed.world 1 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago) (1 children)

So you admit, I hurt your feelings and that’s the source of this obsessive narcissistic behavior? I see. if you’ve been playing this game for so long, you’re not very good at it. 💋

:)

OK, so you're not a serious person. Got it.

I do hope you mature and have great success in life. And perhaps in the future when you make an assertion, be ready to back it up and if you're wrong, just admit it. That is a measure of strength and maturity.

I believe in you, you can get there.
