Post guidelines

Title formatPost title should mirror the news source title. If you don't like the title of article, look for an alternative source instead of editorializing it.
URL formatPost URL should be the original link to the article (even if paywalled) and archived copies left in the body. It allows avoiding duplicate posts when cross-posting.
[Opinion] prefixOpinion (op-ed) articles must use [Opinion] prefix before the title. Opinion articles refer to articles that their publisher doesn't explictly endorse.
Country prefixCountry prefix can be added to the title with a separator (|, :, etc.) if the news is from a local publisher who doesn't clearly mention the country.

This is a one two punch, not only does it hurt Russia's interests, it may cost the GOP in the upcoming election. Nice way to respond to Trump buying Russian Diesel.

Right before the midterms in America.

This is gonna be bad for MAGA

Is anyone really on the fence anymore?

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh god, so many are on the fence still in Idiot America.

https://www.reuters.com/world/us/trump-approval-record-low-hispanic-voters-sour-on-republicans-reutersipsos-poll-2026-10-05/

The poll gave numerous signs that Trump's low popularity was weighing heavily on his Republican Party, with registered voters preferring Democrats over Republicans by 44% to 37% less than a month before the November 3 election. Among independents, Democrats led 37% to 21%, with 28% of independent registered voters still undecided.

JFC in a handbasket what the ?!? I guess some people don’t really give a shit what happens and just vote so they can say they participated.

Vermin Supreme where are you!

American conservatives would elect to get cancer if it had an (R) next to its name. That is, so long as they can fuel up the massive trucks they use to stand in for their tiny cocks, but Trump fucked up diesel pricing.

I'm guessing 15% are starting to wonder.

By "Yandex bot" and "Russian bot" what do they mean?

Do we mean "bot", like a social media account that pretends to be an authentic human user, but is actually a "bot", or some other version of something inauthentic? Or do we mean the crawlers that Yandex sends out to crawl websites to refresh its search index?

[–] esc@piefed.social 17 points 1 week ago

Search engine crawlers.

Bot traffic describes any non-human Internet traffic...

[–] merc@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Ok, so that's a pretty inoffensive form of bot. It's not the bots pretending to be real people, which is what I think of when I hear "Russian Bot".

It's presumably also better behaved than the crawlers used by the AI companies. Those just refresh indices, but they're way more aggressive than the ones typically used by search companies, and often don't respect the robots.txt file.

[–] eleitl@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 week ago

Of course the reason of using the term 'bot' rather than crawler or just automated traffic is a specific framing.

~~This is in ukraine’s best iterest.~~

~~Russian (and Chinese among others) bots drive political unrest, primarily by supporting right wing and nationalist provocateurs to destabilize governments that support Ukraine or NATO.~~

~~If Zelensky can silence the trolls, he has a better chance at continued support.~~

Disregard. It’s Yandex bots, not troll farm bots.

[–] Lumisal@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Ah, but the troll farms use Yandex

They don’t use Yandex, but it appears they might share datacenter resources.

I don’t know anything about the linked source or how trustworthy it is.

RIP search engine that still gives good piracy results.

You'll be missed.

[–] Scrollone@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 week ago

That's true. Google is so censored you can't find anything. And on the other hand, dark web search engines let you find things you'd rather not know about
