Rules:

  1. The mods are fallible; if you've been banned or had a post/comment removed, please appeal.
  2. Off-topic posts will be removed. If you don't know what "Leopards ate my Face" is, try reading this post.
  3. If the reason your post meets Rule 1 isn't in the source, you must add a source in the post body (not the comments) to explain this. If the reason is in the source but is tedious to find (e.g. in a lengthy video), you must add an explanation for where it is.
  4. Posts should use high-quality sources (for a rough idea, check out this list), and posts should retain the title (if one exists) from works like news articles, videos, etc. You may (but need not) edit your post if the source changes the title. (If you're only using an excerpt from an article that's otherwise not about LAMF, you can use the quote in the title.) Other types of posts should have a title which accurately, relatively neutrally describes their contents.
  5. For accessibility reasons, an image of text must either have alt text or a transcription in the post body.
  6. Reposts within 1 year or the Top 100 of all time are subject to removal. Within moderator discretion, this doesn't just include reposts of the exact same media but also includes e.g. a secondary source telling basically the exact same story as another that was already posted.
  7. This is not exclusively a US politics community. You're encouraged to post stories about anyone from any place in the world at any point in history as long as you meet the other rules.

Isn't this the woman that harassed school shooting survivors for years? Typical "I don't care until it happens to me or 'mine'" bullshit from these people. She never changed, she just got a taste of her own medicine.

[–] Kirp123@lemmy.world 130 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Like all conservatives it only matters when it happens to them.

[–] spicytuna62@lemmy.world 54 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That's how it always works. Not too dissimilar from the, "The only moral abortion is my abortion," kind of mindset.

[–] GraniteM@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

The only immoral harassment is the harassment that personally affects me.

[–] Demdaru@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

She didn't claim to change in the screen tho? She weighted risk vs reward, came to conclusion it stopped being in her favor and disengaged.

[–] ech@lemmy.ca 18 points 1 week ago

It's almost like an entire universe of actions exists outside a screenshot of some text.

[–] CubitOom@infosec.pub 123 points 1 week ago (1 children)

She retired just after the requirement was met so she could collect her pension

[–] Fishnoodle@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah, she's just another freak show con whore

[–] ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zip 39 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (3 children)

Calling someone a whore because they happen to be a woman you dislike is still misogyny. Be better than them.

Edit: Lemmy has always had a misogyny problem. The downvotes are extremely telling. Disliking someone's politics does not give you a free pass to be a misogynist.

[–] bizarroland@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I don't know, I feel like the word fits because she did technically fuck America for the money.

[–] ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Almost every male politician does the same thing. I can only assume you also call them whores, right? Otherwise it's just misogyny.

Personally yes, I have and do call the men that fit that bill whores as well, though I try to do it less since it's insulting to sex workers.

[–] bizarroland@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

The ones that fuck the country would also fit, lol.

[–] Fishnoodle@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Whore is a general term for someone who sells themselves for money in the worst ways for the cheapest price. It's kind of odd that you assume the phrase has a female connotation. It's gender neutral

[–] BeerStainedBunny@lemmy.blahaj.zone -2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

She calls people like me worse and I've also been called misogynistic things like whore. That bitch is a whore. Not interested in being the bigger person.

[–] ObtuseDoorFrame@lemmy.zip 13 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

"I can be misogynistic because someone else was"

Can you hear yourself?

[–] CIA_chatbot@lemmy.world 101 points 1 week ago (1 children)

She’s fully ok with others kids being treated that way, just not hers

[–] ScoffingLizard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 36 points 1 week ago

All the sons and daughter who committed suicide because they were trans and tormented by them

[–] BC_viper@lemmy.world 58 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Nah fuck her. She deserves every bad thing that will ever happen to her.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 5 points 1 week ago

Her kids don't.

[–] waltersf@bookwyr.me 2 points 1 week ago

Like the sweet pension she’s still sacking in?

[–] dimjim@sh.itjust.works 52 points 1 week ago (3 children)

So glad MTG still defaults to Magic The Gathering in my brain, even if it does confuse the fuck out of me for a few seconds

[–] W98BSoD@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 1 week ago

Always confuses me.

[–] skisnow@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 week ago

It was already ruined for me by Mtgox, the crypto site that started off as an MTG exchange

[–] Grimpen@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 week ago

Same. Been looking at some of the new sets, winding about getting back in…

[–] bagsy@lemmy.world 47 points 1 week ago

selfish cunt was ok when other peoples families were threatened. fuck her.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 46 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Despite all her alligator tears and performative wordplay attempting an about-face, there isn’t one single shred of work she can point to that shows she was on the right side of things. Not one vote, not a single bill, nothing.

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 33 points 1 week ago (1 children)

She's a POS, but I also think she was a true believer. She went to Washington wanting to expose a cabal of political and business elites that were raping children. She found it, and when it turned out to be her own party she was told to shut up and pretend it didn't exist. When she continued calling for accountability, the machine she had been part of turned on her.

My hope is that the regular people who supported her see what happened and realize they've been duped by the Epstein class and fallen into a dark pit of fear, hate, and prejudice.

We can't simply write-off half the country. We need to give them the chance to learn from their mistakes and move forward.

And, to be clear, forgivejustice. everyday voters who were misled doesn't require compromise. And those who planned or actually took part in the attrocities (ICE and CBP goons, members of the military who followed illegal orders, politicians, business leaders, etc) must face jutice.

[–] ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I agree on all points, and you laid them out well. For all her faults -- and they are real and many -- MTG was one of only four Rs to cross the aisle for legislation releasing the Epstein files, which is to say that she was willing to stand up for something outside the orange leader's demands.

And people outside the US don't get, and I mean have ZERO idea, how we have had propaganda BLASTED at us from all corners 24/7/365 for over a decade, even as successive courts have shot down the idea that anything labeled "news" need contain factual, verifiable information and adhere to some minimal level of journalistic standards. I have observed for myself that it it literally not possible to sit in a waiting room in this country that is not playing some form of right-wing political "infotainment" propaganda. You wanna get your teeth done? Well, you're gonna have to listen to that shit until the dentist is ready for you -- and even he might have it going in his treatment room. It's bad.

Combine that with rural and small communities where that propaganda has been extended to churches and any other places of community, and it's a high price to pay for an individual to break with that crowd: they can lose their families, their church, their friends over it, even when there are no other differences between them.

Yet the breaks are happening, and I am grateful. I'm with you. We HAVE to welcome them back, those who are just misled and want to return to the side of sanity. And we have to do it not only for them, but literally for the survival of our country.

All of this is Authoritarianism 101: divide the people, create in-groups and out-groups and set them against each other.

If we do not heed the warnings of history, if the sane among us insist on massaging our own egos because of the offenses delivered and refuse to welcome back the penitent, we are just collaborating with the authoritarians in a different way that feels good to us, but is equally as wrong and as misled.

We Americans are all Americans. I'm not going to get sucked into the hole of hating other Americans, just for reasons that feel better to my ego. Aside from those Americans who are complicit, who absolutely knew all along that the whole thing is and always was a scam, I won't hate anyone who wants to come in from the cold. It takes guts -- real courage and honesty and humility -- to be able to say, "I was wrong." Speaking personally, any American who comes that far I will welcome with open arms.

Not sure MTG is there yet, though. She's complaining about the superficials of receiving threats that she was all to happy to stoke the flames of herself (Parkland school shooting survivors, for example) and I have not heard anything more honest than that from her. Even so, the enemy of my enemy and all that . . . I guess time will tell how legit her U-turn is.

[–] Malica@lemmy.zip 44 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Again, right wingers only see when they're personally affected. Where was this compassion for "kids" when she was chasing Hogg and screaming at him, accusing him of being a fucking actor after everything he's been through? No no, fuck you and your death threats.

She rode the MAGA wave into office. She knows how to get attention, talk to her base and manage social media. She like all other Republicans towed the line and voted the way they were told to vote.

She was safe, rich, famous and happy. She didn’t see anything wrong with her votes.

When she finally realized that Trump was evil did she try to change or fight the system. No she retired and times it to earn life long healthcare and retirement benefits. Just like all of these Republicans “who have seen the light” and now oppose Trump.

They didn’t do so when they had the power or when their vote mattered. Because there would have been consequences. They all just skulked off into the background.

They will all likely come crawling back when the political winds shift and Trump is gone.

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 26 points 1 week ago

No but she'll happily threaten the lives of other people's children.

[–] Nouvellalia@lemmy.world 25 points 1 week ago

Bitch
You quit the day after your retirement vested. You planned it all.
Get fucked

[–] Janx@piefed.social 19 points 1 week ago

And now we're all stuck with the monster she helped create and empower. Fuck her.

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 17 points 1 week ago

just... What a phenomenally worthless piece of shit. There was an opportunity for them to just be a thorn in the administrations side.

[–] expatriado@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

how authoritarians filter for most loyalty, with the help of thier militants

[–] antianarchist@sopuli.xyz 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Just leaving this here

https://youtu.be/WZGJxxh0VEM?is=e3PS2sqiZAbRVe1x

Get fucked, MTG. And hopefully you get harassed until the end of your days.

[–] Denjin@feddit.uk 9 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Even the most hateful piece of scum doesn't deserve to have the lives of their family threatened (unless, like the rest of the Trump clan they're also up to their neck in shit).

[–] antianarchist@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 week ago

Yep, I agree, which is why I specifically mentioned MTG and not her son. Her son probably hates her actions just as much.

But I don’t feel sorry for her.

[–] waltersf@bookwyr.me 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Then why did she kept threatening the lives of all students, including the Sandy Hook families🙃?

[–] Denjin@feddit.uk 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah, she's a piece of shit, I agree but why should that mean it's OK to threaten the lives of other children who's only crime is having a piece of shit for a mother?

[–] waltersf@bookwyr.me 3 points 1 week ago

Lauren, Taylor, and Derek were threatened‽

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I totally thought this was about Magic: the Gathering until I triple checked the community.

[–] AgentOrangesicle@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Yeah, I was thoroughly lost for a hot second.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 8 points 1 week ago

Yeah yeah yeah, MTG is a piece of shit.

The more serious subtext is that the literal president of the United States caused a Representative to receive enough threats that they resigned.

Arm yourself. This will not end well.

[–] _stranger_@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

welcome to the consequences you pile of shit.

Dumbass decided to turn against Trump, so she -- (checks notes) -- removed herself from power instead of joining the opposition.

Stupid hateful useless piece of shit.
