Drink two Mountain Dew to enable braking.

[–] 1995ToyotaCorolla@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

We're sorry, we detected insincerity when you said "yum, that was refreshing!" For your safety, all vehicle control functions have been disabled. Please try again in 60 seconds

[–] MsPenguinette@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

ERROR: Yellow Mellow preference detected. Proceeding to Mountain Dew Education Institute. Nissan thanks you for you cooperation

They already got mine so I have to pay a subscription to big oil or they disable my car

[–] Jyek@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What is going on? I've now seen two of this exact joke on Lemmy but one is this picture and the other is a video of a different dude in a different car with a different ad in the windshield.

[–] HCSOThrowaway@lemmy.world 2 points 23 hours ago

Someone made a funny joke and now 50 other TikTokers have to redo it.

[–] apric0t@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

"Post a selfy with your delicious bag of McD's and the hashtag #imlovinit to receive 20 minutes of ad-free windshield time! Ba da ba ba baaa"

My car keeps saying "time for a McDonald's break!" and pulling into the drive-through. I've been here for five hours, please send help!

[–] tough_cookies@lemmy.cafe 6 points 1 day ago

Plot twist: In 2050, McDonald's restaurants no longer exist, and nobody eats there anymore. However, the company still generates $66B per year with their "ad free" subscription model.

[–] insanemantis@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

The trick is simple: just don't buy smart cars

[–] rounding_error@lemmy.today 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Fuck, I can actually foresee McDonald's advertisements being holographic projected into the bottom corner of your windshield. It's not even much worse than what car companies are already doing with your car.

[–] 1984@lemmy.today 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

There is never enough ads.

POV: It's 2050 and youve wedged your head between the passenger headrest and the door pillar

[–] finallymadeanaccount@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

BEEP "Eyes are not on the road!"

(The word 'road' has the word 'ad' in it).

[–] W98BSoD@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 day ago

Please drink verification can.

[–] cRazi_man@europe.pub 27 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

Your POV subscription has also lapsed and you're stuck in 3rd person view. If this subscription is not paid then you will be downgraded to top down (GTA1) view before finally going to the basic plan of text only console.

I welcome the new age of edgyrunners. Hacking(mostly script kiddy stuff but still) and modding is getting really popular.

[–] InFerNo@lemmy.ml 17 points 1 day ago (2 children)

He's lucky to have the window rolling subscription

[–] jaschen306@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He only paid for the rolling down. It's 2 times the cost for rolling up. 3 times the cost of it's raining.

[–] InFerNo@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago

I've got the Pay-Per-Roll™ formula, it's cheaper because most people don't actually roll that much so a sub with infinite rolling is a waste of money.

I'm still trying to figure out how it's legal to have massive advertisements lining roadways specifically designed to distract drivers.

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 18 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I think it was ford that submitted a patent for a camera that points forward, reads bilboards, then plays a video on your dash. I hate how shitty technology is being used all in the name of money and advertising.

Well never reach any kind of utopian future where things just work and technology is used for good. It's not about helping and feeding the needy, it's all about satisfying the wealthy. It's a disgusting timeline, literal rapists and genocidal maniacs running countries.

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Off subject, but I wonder if these UAP sightings by the air force and navy are optical illusions, perhaps projected onto windshields.

Because they were shown to be defying physics, it's the least fantastical explanation I can think of that fits what is undeniably true, those that deny the facts as they are notwithstanding.

[–] madmantis24@lemmy.wtf 1 points 1 day ago

I'm convinced that most North American cryptids were just memorable encounters with an owl that may have had substances involved on the part of the observer. Optical illusions being the primary source of UFO sightings, not out of the question to me

"bro the fuck in already inline at McDonald's why am I getting McDonald's ads"

The future of "smart" ads

[–] MisterFrog@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Does it make someone a profit?

Must be good according to the free market.

We will never escape the drive to enshitification under capitalism, even if we manage to get some good regulations in the short-term, a subset of reforms will always eventually be undone or loopholed.

Line must go up.

~~Dear lord give me Socialism in our time~~Please join your local, non-Stalinist, socialist organisations and together win Socialism in our time.

inb4 someone pointing out all the shitty regimes that called themselves "Socialist". It's not socialist unless it's democratic, how else do the workers control society if they can't decide collectively how to run society?

[–] Polisheocket@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They’ll start suttle but get bigger and bigger every year

[–] dream_weasel@sh.itjust.works 2 points 23 hours ago

~~suttle~~ subtle*

[–] tmyakal@infosec.pub 19 points 2 days ago (4 children)

This is the real reason tech is pushing self-driving cars. If you don't need to see the road, you can look at more advertisements.

And they'll sell it as a cost-saving feature, like smart TVs and Kindle tablets. "We can provide this at a reasonable price because the costs are subsidized with advertising." You can buy a car with a traditional windshield for $80k or with an AdShield (TM) for $40k.

self-driving cars

Something I've never understood about self-driving cars is why would you want the expense of owning one if you're not driving it? It's like how rich people used to own expensive cars but employed a chauffeur and never drove themselves.

[–] Blibly@lemmy.world 24 points 2 days ago (1 children)

All this instead of just building more trains jfc
