Ye Power Trippin' Bastards

1929 readers
34 users here now

This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.

Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.

Posting Guidelines

All posts should follow this basic structure:

  1. Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
  2. What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
  3. Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
  4. Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
  5. Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.

Rules

Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.

Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.

YPTB matrix channel: For real-time discussions about bastards or to appeal mod actions in YPTB itself.

The lemmy.ml admins couldn't handle someone pointing that any conversation about Palestine should be centered around the Palestinian victims undergoing a literal genocide and not on Judaism, because in the present day Jews are just privileged white people who aren't facing any systemic oppression but are even systemically privileged.

An instance pretending to give a voice for the the Global South in the end just censors non-Eurocentric opinions to the point of censoring for genocide.

Apparently they didn't instantly delete the comment after banning me but did so hours afterwards, probably because others agreed with me.

This part of the post pertains a feddit.uk post which I assumed was a crosspost but this was not removed by the lemmy.ml admin and this part can be ignored. Leaving it here for reference

The ~~admins~~ feddit.uk mods also removed a post ~~from my own community~~ because the post cites TheDailyMail and that is not a "reliable source" despite the headline being completely verified including a link to the UK government report itself. Might as well introduce MBFC next.

Here is TheGuardian saying the same thing: Government expected to accept recommendations of review, which found three in five Jewish students had experienced prejudice. And here is an even more extensive debunk of the report found on the "ultra radically left" /s Hasan Piker subreddit

Yeah, .ml has deliberately unclear rules, allowing mods to ban anyone who disagrees with them for vague reasons, or no reason at all. Anyone disrupting the echo chamber is liable for a banhammerin'.

It is pretty funny how they can't even run an online community without censorship and bans, though!

We went over this already: literally no one can run a freeze peach zone without it metastasizing into a Nazi bar.

You can do "I ban Nazis" without "I ban anyone who disagrees with me". Unless you think anyone who disagrees with your politics is a Nazi, which is funny in a different way.

I wouldn't say this is much different on other instances. Instead they write a trillion arbitrary rules, which they may or may not follow depending on how they feel that day.

When the .ml admins clap me for being too mean and Westoid, remind me to not snake off to .db0 and write the world's cringiest post.

PTB and philosemitism. Scholars such as Joseph Massad and Norman Finkelstein have extensively talked about this subject for years. It is not controversial topic. In the West Holocaust education kicks in on any debate around Judaism. Instantly shutting it down because any criticism of it equals gas chambers.

Talmud says you can lie to acquit a jew aganist a non-jew (baba kamma 113a)

Then you see conviction rate of palestinians vs israelis in occupied palestine. But if you connect the two, you are anti-semitic.

When a palestinian is murdered, their murderers say they are jewish, but if the palestinian being murdered were to condemn jews, they would be called anti-semitic.

Sure there are peaceful, non-zionist jews like natura karta. But vast majority jews do support israeli actions.

If mosques in Europe and USA invited leaders of alqaeda or ISIS, and praised them, nobody would hesitate in condemning muslims.

Until synagogues start condemning Israeli state like mosques condemn ISIS and alqaeda, judaism is zionism. Anyone who think otherwise is just a hypocrite.

I don't think the Talmud is very relevant to this. What's far more relevant is that statistically

99% of Jewish Organizations Worldwide are Zionist.

Even when Zohran Mamdani recently gave his "combating antisemitism" funding he gave it to Zionist orgs and basically said he wasn't able to find any non-Zionist Jewish organisations to give it to.

A distinction between Jews as individuals, and Zionism can be made. But Judaism as a religion (which is what the sign in the OOP is about) is absolutely wholly intertwined with Zionism to the point where the difference is so minimal that it's not important at all. It just distracts from the Palestinians getting genocided. As explained in articles such as "Jewish settlers stole my house. It’s not my fault they’re Jewish". or "The Hollowed Vocabulary: Jewish Voice for Peace and the Institutional Capture of Anti-Zionism"

Queue the Western brained libs coming to yell at me for saying what Palestinian authors are communicating themselves because they have never read or heard anything by a Palestinian.
