Sounds like great news to me. Love me some big fixes
Linux
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

The PHP exploit was around for 14 years. All it took was somebody typing in "Find bad vulnerabilities in PHP" into chatgpt and half the internet was exposed. Humans make mistakes just as bad as the robots do.
Cannot wait until a decade has passed and all the smart folk have already found ways to accurately detect generative AI code, have moved onto our own better OS ( vibe/cuck code free ) that runs faster than every other OS. All whilr we get to enjoy our rose garden from atop our high towet while everyone else baths in their vibe sewage, unable to remember their own name without chatgpt reminding them every second.
I'm more than down to make it a reality as I am slowly learning digital art and practicing and will most likely be able to pitch in real art for it.
Oh it's already easy. You start asking the submitter to explain the code. Sometimes it's just visually obvious, too.
I've always had the opinion of it not being slop if you:
- Take ownership and fully understand the code
- Make it look like a human wrote it, in other words, scrutinize, re-factor and re-format the code for legibility, performance and maintainability before submitting your patch
This effectively forces you to do research to properly understand how your patch is implemented and puts you through the mental exercise of cleaning up the code. It also more often than not mostly replaces the code the LLM generated anyway, making it yours.
I say all this as someone who turns around a lot of PRs at work for being slop. Come back to me when you can take ownership of your git blame.
No matter how good an ai can be, what it writes should never be pushed as-is. It's just like you shouldn't ever have copy-pasted snippets from stack overflow to fix bugs.
ding ding ding
But that is a statement of this time, it is not now and I don't k ow if this branch of AI well get there bit it could eventually become better then us at coding. Just like Chess and Go.
Yeah, let's make a super smart AI to detect AI. That'll fix all our Linux maintenance problem. Any AI taints the kernel, so using it is inadmissible in every instance.
While we're at it, we should also get a super smart AI to detect the blood type of any author. That way we can be extra certain they're not AI. They're both trivial detections to implement! Why hasn't anyone done it yet?

We're blaming constructors for writing driver because they use AI ?
Can't wait for this anti-AI slop to stop.
You read me right.
I've seen a lot of pro AI posts, but I think this is the first one that's actually pro slop.
What specifically is slop about the 7.4 sound changes?
I didn't say 7.4 is slop. You spoke against people who are anti-slop, which generally suggests pro-slop.
Can't wait for this anti-AI slop to stop.
I think this is the first one that's actually pro slop.
So, what is the "actually pro slop" part of original comment? It sounds like the poster just said something against hype culture (either pro or anti) and you jumped to default trash mode.
What is the actual complaint (if any) that you have?
They're talking about people who are "anti AI slop" which is a weird stance to take. Slop bad. LLMs are just tools, which can be misused, but slop always bad.
I think some punctuation would have made his sentence make more sense. I think he was saying, a lot of the anti AI stuff that is made, is slop in its own right, and he can't wait for it to stop.
What's weird is it isn't even about AI generated code, but the disclosure of it via tag. It's kinda redundantly stupid given the same PR with or without the tag is still subject to the same review process.
Slop code (AI or human generated) gets eliminated at that point. There is no practical reason for people to throw a tantrum over this. The argument I know someone will try to make is that there are too many AI PRs and they need a way to distinguish from them. The problem is that just means the review process is "What flair did you use?" which is not a process at all.
constructors
Sir, this is not C++.
I think 'constructors' and 'orchestrators' are what they're calling themselves these days, when they're just 'sloperators'
Coding is one of the few usecases for AI I don't have issues with per say, but that is with the caveat that it is done by a competent coder who knows what they're doing to make things work better more quickly and with fewer bugs and issues. AI shouldn't replace peoples jobs, except for maybe CEOs, it should be an efficiency multiplier and free people up from doing a load of busy work. Unfortunately I see AI being used as an excuse to fire people and make tye world a worse place in the search for immediate gains for companies without thought of the long term consequences.
If coders where as good as they say they are online we wouldn't have as many bugs in software as we do.
The AI haters are as obnoxious as the AI shills
Actually, I don't really run into nearly as much shills as haters.
