Are you satisfied that we've got a slop deity instead of a blob deity?

“What I think ChatGPT should do is reflect that weighted average, or whatever, of humanity’s moral view,” OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said last year.

Spoken with the clarity and eloquence of a true visionary.

I’m okay with this as long as the AI isn’t trinitarian

[–] Infamousblt@hexbear.net 20 points 2 hours ago

Religion doesn't even make humans morally good I have no idea why anyone would think it could make a machine morally good

All fixed, fast-frozen relations, with their train of ancient and venerable prejudices and opinions, are swept away, all new-formed ones become antiquated before they can ossify. All that is solid melts into air, all that is holy is profaned, and man is at last compelled to face with sober senses his real conditions of life, and his relations with his kind.

Thank you -- I can never remember the precise wording of this quote well enough to find it

Im sure the LLM training data consumed by silicon valley startups doesnt present a skewed concept of religion and mortality:) i wont bother checking!

Don’t let your children use AI unattended is actually good advice

They're gonna make Supply Side Jesus real aren't they?

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 35 points 7 hours ago (3 children)

This is transparently a marketing effort to appeal to religious chuds.

[–] Rojo27@hexbear.net 4 points 1 hour ago

Is it though? I feel like religious chuds already are OK with AI in general. Wasn't there even a church that did some weird AI Charlie Kirk speech after he got shot?

If you have a religious chud in your family make sure to pretend to be on their side and say how ai companies are trying to replace preachers with a big TV screen of ai Jesus. Or something like that, regardless they latch on to that kind of stuff and often drag everyone with them in those communities.

And there are plenty actual examples of stuff like this where the Vatican doesn't like ai, and weird other stuff about churches making ai Jesus or whatever. Just find a issue that related to them to get under their skin, because they are spiteful you just have to direct it. Two old racists ladies in their 70's with enough time on facebook groups can spend aaaaalllll day just arguing online on your behalf. Maybe its not about a argument you care about, or maybe the old ladies aren't very good at it, it doesn't matter. You made that change in your local community and those people will hopefully be slightly more open to being distrustful of whatever else and vote with us on issues against big tech.

The religious right are doubling down on trump or becoming so disillusioned that they are primed to believe the next thing they're told like charlie kirk was a inside job, or whatever else is hot for them right now. That kind of alex Jones stuff is mainstream now and its really popping off. Maga is down hard and many of them are vulnerable and scared due to the war, gas prices, affordability crises whatever. So just start contributing more to that while they are open to the idea before the media catches up and they start pushing Vance. They vote hard with common issues like flock. They're not your allies just rile them up a little, its their natural state of being its fine for them.

[–] TreadOnMe@hexbear.net 2 points 1 hour ago

The only issue with this line of reasoning is that voting doesn't really matter on issues like this. We are getting this if we want it or not, convincing us is merely a P.R. excersize.

[–] aanes_appreciator@hexbear.net 3 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

yeah im sure you could make comparisons to 1984 or some shit and be like yeah i guess im a sucker for tradition

[–] chgxvjh@hexbear.net 12 points 6 hours ago

I'm sure they are also looking for religious figures willing to say that the AI has soul, spark of life, consciousness or whatever.

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 17 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

hey grokkk which religion is correct?

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 13 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Beep boop my sensors tell me that Heaven's Gate was the correct religion.

[–] duderium@hexbear.net 10 points 4 hours ago

Yeah those 39 souls have been partying on Comet Hale-Bopp for the last thirty years while the rest of us have been trapped on Earth 😔

[–] chgxvjh@hexbear.net 16 points 7 hours ago

The AI isn't Christian Nationalist enough?

[–] WokePalpatine@hexbear.net 5 points 5 hours ago

Antinomian slop-shippers of the techno-cult.

[–] ksynwa@lemmygrad.ml 10 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

At least they are self aware enough to realise that they themselves don't have what it takes to tell good from bad.

[–] chgxvjh@hexbear.net 14 points 6 hours ago

It's impressive to consistently end up on the evil side if you can't tell the two apart.
