Who wants to help me fix my audio issues?? πŸ˜‚ Not joking.... πŸ˜…

    [–] martti@suppo.fi 2 points 9 hours ago

    Dont ask, describe the issue

    [–] LeftReddit2@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago

What problems are you having specifically?

    [–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 2 points 10 hours ago

I wake in the morning and I step outside, I take a breath and I get real high and I scream from the top of my lungs AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

With all the myriad problems I've had with linux, audio was never one of them. Hell, my android is worse with audio. Looking at this thread, I'm apparently very lucky

This is a retake of my other meme as my original had an AI image that I was unaware of.

I'm getting old and soon I'm gonna get scammed by AI. I CAN FEEL IT! I can feel it about to happen!

    [–] niko_@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 day ago

Smiled when I saw someone de-slopped the meme, smiled even harder when I saw the same OP

    You love to see it

    [–] farmgineer@nord.pub 33 points 1 day ago

I’m getting old and soon I’m gonna get scammed by AI.

I'm in my mid 40s and this terrifies me, honestly. I've seen a lot of images people point out are AI and don't notice it until later. Some are super obvious, but others I might never notice (and doubly so if I don't stop to actually examine all the details of every image I see and who has time for that?)

    [–] Allero@lemmy.today 5 points 1 day ago

When everyone struck so hard under neverslop banners, I was kind of afraid folks will alienate an awesome poster.

Glad to see you taking it the right way! :)

    [–] trojanbark@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

Bless you for doing it non-AI

I told claude i have a weird crackle sometimes. It identified some subsystem keeping s connection open, forcing small packets.

Fixed in a minute. Never anymore issues with that.

    Is Claude a true linuxer?

    [–] datavoid@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Yesterday I gave claude remote access to my Chinese android car stereo. It was opening apps, taking screenshots, backing things up and decompiling them to check for malware. Now I'm going to remove everything unneeded like media apps and Google Play services to make the system faster.

I've had a few "holy shit" moments with AI over the past month or so that I haven't had since late 2022/early 2023. Crazy times, we are in for a ride...

    [–] lfox02@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 hours ago

As long as you don't bootloop or brick your device by removing something crucial. Some people have managed that with their Android TVs.

At a LUG, helping a new Linux enthusiast solve their ALSA IRQ issues in '98, did indeed make me feel Hey-ya!

    * It was lucky I had chewed through the exact same issue, 3 weeks before. Must have looked like a space wizard.

And so I wake up in the morning and I look outside, and I take a deep breath and get real high and I scream at the top of my lungs "What's going on?"

    [–] Bluewing@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I once spent a month trying to compile a kernel and sound driver for a SoundBlaster Gold card in Mandrake 6. I still have flashbacks to that time.

You know what, I'm good just sitting here in silence.

Pipewire has fixed pretty much every audio problem I've had across both Linux and windows. Pair that with qpwgraph for a gui for controlling input and output flow, and you're in easy to fix audio city, baby.

Audio is one of the very short list of things windows actually handles better. I have a very nice DAC for my iems and on Linux it is stuck at sub cd quality. On windows I can go 32bit audio :/

I said Hey! What's going on?

But I was told that Linux has never had any audio problems and I was completely imagining all the ones I thought I had.

    [–] frank@sopuli.xyz 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Basically 100% of my problems since switching to linux have been audio related.

Oh wait I mean no, gaslighting isn't real you made it up because you're crazy

Dude is about to sneeze, is that an allergic reaction?

    [–] datavoid@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago

Now if you can just make all the apps work reliably and get the screen stop flickering, I'll use Linux again!

Note that you will be blacklisted by nvidia because using nvidia gpus outside of data centers is forbidden

    [–] dorumon@lemmy.cafe 5 points 1 day ago

Can you help my audio crackles whenever my CPU starts to do something resource intensive? Or with KWIN under Wayland lagging as well when the CPU also starts to cook itself? Breaking keyboard inputs and mouse. BTW this is when I intentionally overload the CPU lol. I could just switch back to x11 like the bitch I am though. But like I enjoy having a GPU rendered desktop and not going through x11 for everything.

I couldnt. Sound on my laptop is crackling, and sometimes just mutes if its on hdmi output, but no problem with the internal speakers

    [–] anarchy79@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

I don't know if this was on purpose

Feeling this meme. I recently went through some hard times getting my Ardour/Jack setup working.

    (Pro tip: Use Cadence.)

    [–] syreus@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

So this is strangely specific but on nobara I have a second audio output slider for each application when I look at volume controls. Its not functional at affecting the volume of the app.

    Any ideas?

Put your nerdy where your mouth is!

I just installed mint on my girlfriend’s 2015 MacBook. Everything works except for the audio. I haven’t started troubleshooting yet because it was just installed last night.

Save me timeβ€”how do I fix it?

    [–] LeftReddit2@lemmy.world 29 points 1 day ago (1 children)

First thing to check is Alsamixer. Get on that mfugging terminal and type in Alsamixer and then hit the F6 key to check if Mint was just being weird and muted anything. I had that happen to me a few times where it muted headphones or speakers on its own.

If that alone doesn't work, it can help to check if wireplumber and be sure this is enabled.

    systemctl status --user wireplumber.service

If it isn't enabled, then run

    systemctl --user start wireplumber.service

And if none of that worked, I did find Pavucontrol worked pretty amazingly for me. I just downloaded it and it just worked to just

    sudo apt install pavucontrol

    and then ran

    pavucontrol &

Lemme know if any of this worked. Since you JUST got it, I don't think it's anything too crazy.

    [–] Gaja0@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

Static causes my speakers to stop:

    systemctl --user restart pipewire pipewire-pulse

    I use this a lot
