Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.

Rules
  1. ๐Ÿ˜‡ Be Nice!

    • Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
  2. ๐Ÿ˜๏ธ Community Standards

    • Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
    • Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
    • Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
    • Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
  3. ๐Ÿงฌ Keep it Real

    • Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
  4. ๐Ÿ“ฝ๏ธ Credit Where Credit is Due

    • Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
    • Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
  5. ๐Ÿ“‹ Post Formatting

    • Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
    • Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
    • When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
      โœ… Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
      โŒ Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
  6. ๐Ÿ“ฌ Post Frequency/SPAM

    • Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 ๐Ÿ–) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 ๐Ÿ–) will be removed.
  7. ๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ Internationalization (i18n)

    • Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
      Sรญ, por favor [Spanish/Espaรฑol]
  8. ๐Ÿฟ Moderation

    • We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
    • When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists

The following artists are banned from the community.

  1. Jago
  2. Stonetoss
  3. GPrime85

It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.

Web Accessibility

Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.

When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:

Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

IF I WOULD

COULD YOU?

No.

[โ€“] mrmisses@lemmy.world 37 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Fix? It's working perfectly for them, what's to fix?

[โ€“] Blibittyblah@futurology.today 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It could always be more efficient at draining us?

[โ€“] OwOarchist@pawb.social 6 points 2 days ago

That's what the AI is for.

[โ€“] darthsundhaft@piefed.social 15 points 2 days ago (2 children)

We could actually fix everything. We outnumber all of them and we could do what France is doing.

But we won't.

[โ€“] krisevol@lemmus.org 1 points 8 hours ago

History says otherwise. After a revolt it's bad for decades.

[โ€“] SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

France will likely be fascist (and broke) within a year.

[โ€“] Tabula_stercore@lemmy.world 3 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

usa propaganda spinning again. Oil prices are up because of you.

[โ€“] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 2 points 16 hours ago

I don't know about broke, but the French really like Le Pen.

This implies they recognise what is wrong which is not true.

The problems are their GOALS. Also they wouldnโ€™t be in power if they didnโ€™t share this view.

Campaign finance legalizes bribery and enables foreign nation states such as Israel to completely own American politicians - it must be dramatically reformed. While weโ€™re at it, the insider trading congress gets to gorge themselves on must be stopped.

2 party system gives the illusion of choice but is actually used by the owner class to divide and conquer. Get rid of FPTP, abolish the electoral college, and make ranked choice voting a national standard states must abide by in order to enable actual representation of real American citizens.

SCOTUS is heavily compromised by partisan hacks. Either recall them all, or restructure the court and add at least 5 more justices.

Corpos have way too much power. Bring back the CFPB, give it teeth, and massively regulate them. We are asked to sacrifice our health and livelihoods for corporate greed, and it is wrong. Make this easier by eradicating monopolies - bring back FTC trust busting in a big way, and start with that prick Larry Ellisonโ€™s media empire.

Add competency tests, age limits, and term limits - for all federal offices.

Tax reform in a massive way. Right now itโ€™s totally regressive and upside down - sin taxes, income tax on the bottom 50%, and property taxes pay for almost everything. Turn this upside right - tax the richest among us at significantly higher rates. That goes for corpos too. It should be graduated in a way that makes it impossible to become a trillionaire, and virtually impossible to become a billionaire. The richest among us will still have hundreds of millions - theyโ€™ll be fine. The rest of us can then finally begin to rightfully enjoy the fruits of our labor as we begin to close the gap between worker pay and productivity which have diverged increasingly since 1971.

There is so much more wrong that we need to address, such as universal healthcare, affordable housing, eradicating the prison state, environmental protections and work to reverse climate change. However, the above would go a very long way to restoring proper representation and putting the people back in charge of our alleged democracy.

โ€œCoulda woulda shoulda she dida!โ€ - Lesley Nelson

Tale as old as time.

โ€œJust give us the power to fix everything!โ€

is given the power to fix everything

โ€œOoo, this is nice. I donโ€™t wanna change anything and lose all this power.โ€

We really need a c/im14andthisisdeep comm

[โ€“] KombatWombat@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (2 children)

The big problems today cannot be solved easily without making a lot more problems. We don't need to pretend otherwise to criticize how they are being addressed.

[โ€“] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 3 points 19 hours ago

Yeah I'm sure it's impossible to cleanly fix, say, homelessness. Otherwise you'd become such an unlivable hellscape as checks notes Finland.

[โ€“] Joelk111@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

I don't think that's a really good argument. Yea, there are always going to be problems to solve, but changing some things wouldn't be that hard and would make other, smaller, problems.

[โ€“] UnpoppedCorn@lemmy.world -1 points 2 days ago

No one is trying to fix anything. People just want to make their lives better while making the opposition's lives worse and pretending it's moral by making up lies about about the opposition.

[โ€“] ShutUpWesley@piefed.zip 0 points 2 days ago (2 children)

They break us into rivaling groups that are convinced they are enemies, even though they have the same needs and would benifit/suffer equally form the same policies. Republican vs Democrat, Liberal vs Conservative, MAGA vs Woke, its all made up so we don't join hands and exercise our collective power. Until we put our personal differences aside, we're fucked.

[โ€“] OwOarchist@pawb.social 12 points 2 days ago

Hard to put aside 'personal differences' when those differences include opinions about whether or not you should be allowed to exist.

[โ€“] Flatworm7591@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Classic centrist take. "Until we hold hands with both nazis and leftists, we'll all be rivals."

[โ€“] ShutUpWesley@piefed.zip 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's not at all what I'm saying. And I'd be happy to have an honest conversation with you, but I'm not going to exchange jabs and insults.

[โ€“] Flatworm7591@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You don't think it's about the Dems?

[โ€“] ShutUpWesley@piefed.zip 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That what's about the dems?

[โ€“] Flatworm7591@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They could've prosecuted trump, they could've refused to confirm his nominations. They chose not to. They could have pushed through universal access to healthcare. They chose not to. They could choose to condem Israeli genocide. They chose not to, and continue to choose not to.

All I'm saying is, I hope they start making different choices.

[โ€“] ShutUpWesley@piefed.zip 3 points 2 days ago

But that is precisely what I'm getting at. They chose not to implement policies that would improve our(you and me, the peasants) lives, and instead chose to increase defense spending, send money to Israel, increasing ICE funding, and allow our democracy to decay further, because those policies benifit the elites, and both of our political parties do what is best for the elites.

That is not to say I think both parties are "equally bad", I essentially voted DNC party line this year, because I think the Republican party has gone entirely insane. But just because they're better doesn't mean they're good.

Fundamentally, if we want real change, that benifits us down here in the working class, we must unite, and yes, that even means my annoying Trump supporting coworker Andy who I want to punch. Because we all suffer and benifit equally from the same policies. It is the fiction that working class people must fight and struggle agaist eachother to win that keeps the elite in power.
