Perfect Halloween.... Yet I was stuck with a vacuum pump attached to my back not able to party 🀣😭

[–] FunStuffIsFun@eviltoast.org 1 points 2 minutes ago

That sounds like a party.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 8 points 18 hours ago

Instead I was in bed by midnight and totally sober. I think I had more fun

Actually it was Daylight Saving Time on November 1 back in 2009 (17 years ago). It was a great night.

There is some weird loophole in Baltimore that allowed bars to stay open all night on new years eve, and the first year I lived there I didn't know about it. Was very confused when I left the bar and the sun was coming up.

Wait, you guys switch from 2 to 1? We switch from 3 to 2. Also on a different weekend, but I knew that already. This one is new to me.

This message brought to you by a place that isn't bonkers

During the second World War we had double save lights savings. So it went 12 am. 1am. 2am. 12am

I was trying so hard to figure out why these tweets look weird, thinking maybe they were just fake tweets... Turns out these are "threads" from Threads and that's why they look weird, but ngl, I genuinely did not know anyone used Threads.

[–] Kanda@reddthat.com 11 points 1 day ago (2 children)

As you can see, at least 2 people use Threads. Maybe it's kinda like the fediverse?

[–] AliOski@feddit.nl 1 points 3 hours ago

If I'm correct, you can literally federate your Lemmy instance with Threads. I don't know, I saw something like that. Really strange.

:angryupvote:

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 61 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I am surprised every time I get reminded that Threads exist. Yet I know therapist friends who get a ton of clients from posting on there.

[–] restingOface@quokk.au 56 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I bet a therapist could clean up on lemmy

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 49 points 1 day ago (9 children)

I’m a therapist πŸ‘€

Big therapy is infiltrating our spaces!

Weak club that didn't go past 2

[–] volvoxvsmarla@sopuli.xyz 14 points 1 day ago (8 children)

Lol in Germany clubs have to get a special permit to allow the club to be open past 12 am on Halloween because November 1st you're not allowed to dance. Having a legal party that went after 12 am on Halloween was radical back when I was a teen

[–] winkerjadams@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Dancing is illegal in November??

[–] volvoxvsmarla@sopuli.xyz 1 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

Nah, just on November 1st since it is a religious holiday.

There are a couple more no-dance holidays, November 1st is just the one that started to become most noticeable because of the emerging Halloween parties in the 2000s

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 1 points 52 minutes ago

That's such a weird law to have in modern day

What happens if you dance on a nodance holiday?
