We used to get even worse propaganda in the 80s.
One house would give out creationist pamphlets with comics about evolved monkeys and Christian bullshit.
The problem was they were in the same area as one of the full sized candy bar houses, and we could never remember which was which, so they got us multiple years.

In the 70s, it just wasn't Hallowe'en if you didn't get a Chick tract in your candy haul.
I remember my mom going through my candy looking for razor blades or whatever.
We also had to keep our animals inside because they might be stolen for satanic rituals.
