Good thing we caught all those dangerous terrorists before they could do anything evil!

Imagine if all those 474 extremist insurgents hadn't attended a public protest, we might never have caught them. Who knows what dastardly deeds they could have wrought from deep within our own society in the shadows.

They could be your colleague, your postman, your neighbour, your cousin, or even your own wife! Trust no-one!

We must remain vigilant against this evil menace and be grateful the police anti terror squad is watching us at all times, just in case one of us should turn 🫡💂‍♀️🇬🇧

your neighbour, your cousin, or even your own wife!

Don't forget your nan or granddad!

Jacob Ecclestone, 86, said: "I believe in freedom of speech. What this government is trying to do is deeply authoritarian. And it's extremely dangerous."

Holy shit that’s as bad as Gernan police arresting kids

The arrested a just as old female vicar a few weeks ago for the same free.

I am from England and I support Palestine action. Come at me pigs.

[–] Dicska@lemmy.world 7 points 4 months ago

Had they not been arrested, they could have assisted genocide, committing war crimes every week or killing civilians, aid workers and reporters by the dozens. Only the worst terrorists could allow such things to happen.

Oh, wait...

Protesters whose details could be confirmed at temporary prisoner processing points nearby were bailed with conditions to return to a police station at a future date and to not attend any further protests in support of Palestine Action. People who refused to give their details or whose identities could not be verified were taken into custody.

most of these people were home the next day, no one actually arrests that many people, can you imagine the paper work

A lot of them were retired people, and a lot said they had been medics or military before they retired. So it's new demographics coming out on this one.

The home secretary then came out and said some vague stuff about "there's stuff we can't tell you about. Just trust us bro, we're fighting evil with this"

This reads just like the news we had of antiwar protesters in russia a few years ago. Except you know, it's the uk this time.

[–] FauxLiving@lemmy.world 30 points 4 months ago (1 children)

The elites only ever have one answer when the poors disagree with them: send in the police to arrest and hurt them until they stop.

It's the same in every country.

[–] Zombie@feddit.uk 8 points 4 months ago

And this is why ACAB regardless of whether they're a "good one" or not.

As long as police forces ignore the right of expression and protest, in favour of the whims of the government of the day, they are bastards.

[–] faizalr@fedia.io 47 points 4 months ago (5 children)

When it is comes to Palestine issue, why there is so many arrest??

[–] Saleh@feddit.org 71 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

The UK recently designate Palestine Action, a group using tactics of non violent direct actions as a "terrorist group". Palestine action activists broke into weapons factories, spraying around paint and damaging machinery used to manufacture weapons destined to Israel. They also blocked roads leading to factories or climbed on the roofs of offices of such companies.

About a month back two activists managed to break into a royal air force base and damage two transport planes used by Britain for weapon shipments to Israel.

The UK has been increasingly using "terrorism" charges to attack non violent protests. Now people are openly defying the designation of Palestine Action as a "terrorist group" by the British parliament, as it is absurd and only intended to attack civil rights, in particular the right to freedom of opinion, the right to protest, the right to privacy and the right to due process.

As any authoritarian government does, rather than reviewing this absurd decision, the British government instead decides to suppress the justified opposition to this farce.

Aside from the increasing authoritarianism, the British government has been deeply complicit in Israeli war crimes. Britain has been conducting spy-flights for Israel multiple times a day, providing intel to Israel where to bomb. Another current outrage is that the British government refuses to inform the public whether their planes recorded Israeli attacks on British citizens who worked as humanitarian helpers and were murdered by Israel. There is strong reason to believe the Britain is complicit in many war crimes and that some acts of the British government have helped the murder of their own citizens.

[–] palordrolap@fedia.io 26 points 4 months ago (3 children)

Because the UK government still subscribes to the idea that any criticism of Israel is anti-Semitic, and therefore any support for Palestine is an anti-Semitic terrorist act.

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 12 points 4 months ago (1 children)

It's important to stay on top of anti-Semitism because we don't want a genocide to happen like it did in the Holocaust.

Wait a minute...

[–] UltraMagnus0001@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago

Is it antisemitism to commit genocide? Is it against their religion. Don't fucking pretend to be religious in front of your peers and then kill innocent kids or kill. Look at me in front of the wailing wall praying for dead kids.

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 12 points 4 months ago

Rhey don't really believe that, it's just an excuse for them to justify crushing palestinian liberation mouvement

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 months ago

Yeah but why that?

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 26 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Old imperial powers supporting newish imperial powers

[–] bigfondue@lemmy.world 11 points 4 months ago

UK is pretty much responsible for the creation of Israel

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 19 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I'd like to see a serious answer to this, please?

Why, indeed, is it that you can't criticize Israel, even though it's clearly committing genocide. you can't say "Innocent Palestinians are being murdered" or anything like it because that's "antisemitic", even though this is litert using both your eyes to see what is happening.

I'm guessing pressure from Israel? But what pressure? How do they pressure so many counties that their governments go with "can't say anything realistic about Israel!". Do they have pee tapes of all prime ministers or something?

[–] sunbytes@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

Gotta phrase it as "military aged males 'died' during a defensive/peacekeeping operation".

Or just straight up call babies terrorists. Dealer's choice.

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 8 points 4 months ago

Because Israel is the largest money laundering operation in world history. These western governments send them “aid” with government money and in return they get a lot of “political donations” towards their “campaign”.

[–] OutlierBlue@lemmy.ca 25 points 4 months ago

The Metropolitan Police said the number of arrests was the largest made by the force on a single day in the last decade.

That's really not the flex they think it is.

[–] geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml 2 points 4 months ago

These geriatrics should learn supporting real Western values!
