For example, I don't like Will Ferrell in his typical roles. Oh they just drive me batty.

But. I do love Stranger Than Fiction. It's such a cozy movie.

Kevin Spacey. Because the people that accuse him of raping them keep committing suicide right before trial. And then he released that creepy video of himself sitting in front of a fireplace talking about "killing them with kindness". I've refused to watch anything with him in it since I found out.

Ya know I'm a Star Trek fan from way back, but William Shatner makes me cringe all the time these days.

Chris Pratt's only good films were the Guardians of the Galaxy fims and the Lego Movie and his face wasn't even in one of those.

Ben Gazara Just needs a slap

Shia Labeouf. Generally I dislike him as an actor and almost everything he's been in.

But he was great in lawless which is one of my favorite movies.

[–] ChexMax@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

He's in some movie peanut butter falcon or something. It was good

Steven Seagal, he’s complete garbage on every level. He can’t act, he can’t run, he’s a sex trafficker and rapist, and his whole career was started with a bet by producers to make the most incapable and unlikable person famous.

Also, aikido, he can’t even do a stupid useless fake “martial art” invented to sell to suburbanite children properly.

[–] yermaw@sh.itjust.works 16 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Did you not see that demonstration where he effortlessly destroys an entire dojo of people by wrist-flipping them one at a time without moving his hands more than 20cm?

Thats raw skill.

[–] NotASharkInAManSuit@lemmy.world 16 points 8 hours ago

That’s a good point, most of them didn’t even come in contact with him before they went flying through the air. Probably a chakra thing, just using raw spirit energy like Naruto.

There are a lot named here who I'm unfamiliar with, and a few who are terrible humans but who I'm clueless about as actors. I don't think I've ever seen any Tom Cruise movies, but OMG:

Ed Harris. Exception: The Rock.

I think I'm with you on Will Ferrell. Quite often his parts are just...obnoxious?

Similarly, most of the time I just can't with Ben Stiller because his shtick seems to be second hand embarrassment.

If you haven't seen Tropic Thunder, watch it, Tom Cruise is in the film, but he has a fairly small part, and even me who dislikes him can absolutely say that his performance is a damn masterclass.

I didn't even recognize him the first time I saw the film.

[–] mechoman444@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Seriously? Top Gun, A Few Good Men, Missing Impossible.

Those are all classics.

[–] Rivalarrival@lemmy.today 7 points 6 hours ago

Agreed. I acknowledge he's a pretty good actor. I just hate him.

[–] RexWrexWrecks@lemmy.world 18 points 9 hours ago (5 children)

Anthony Mackie.

He has a face that is simultaneously smug and dumbstruck. He ruined Altered Carbon, he was the weakest part of the Falcon & Einyer Soldier series, and he just screams “Overrated” to me.

But he was ok in 8 Mile.

[–] sartalon@lemmy.world 9 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Totally agree. Going from Joel Kinnaman to Anthony Mackie was a huge let down.

OMG! That's exactly the way I feel. Stranger than Fiction is a masterpiece.

I don't care for Will Ferrell but I don't hate him as a person and that's what I thought you meant.

I can't believe you used this example. Amazing!!!

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 20 points 9 hours ago (3 children)

Chris Pratt, I never got why he’s famous. I was never a fan anything he did he just seemed like a one trick pony. (Be the dumb/funny chubby guy) then he did Guardians of the Galaxy and yes I did enjoy it but that’s about it. And with him being casted in almost everything lately I’m done with him.

[–] thermal_shock@lemmy.world 13 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Same. Aside from parks and rec and guardian films, pretty much avoid his trash. He's also a super judgemental religious nut.

Chris Pratt, I never got why he’s famous.

Because he was amazing in Parks and Rec.

After that though, as studios do they pushed and pushed and pushed him into everything and his acting skills don't hold up, so the fatigue and annoyance sets in.
