Utsu-P and The Ohayogozaimas I did not realize there was an entire world of Vocaloid metal, which further led me to falling in love with J-metal overall 🀘

[–] PumpkinEscobar@lemmy.world 2 points 15 hours ago

Nice. I’m definitely keeping an eye out for new tour date announcements

Nick Drake has been in my peripheral for a while, with one of his songs on my playlist. But recently I gave the rest of his music a try and I was stunned at how good it is, and how tragic his story was after reading up on him. The Pink Moon album is incredible. What a talent

[–] shrodes@lemmy.world 2 points 17 hours ago

Pink Moon is so beautiful.

Bob Vylan - like early Rage Against the Machine. Found out about them when they got banned from entry to the US - which is how I'm discovering most of my music these days.

Reminds me of when Das Racist were detained and deported from the UK.

Antoha MC and KUKIKODAN.

The former, Antoha MC, is a Russian rapper who I like for his dark atmosphere and melodic accompaniment that complements his humming raps.

The latter, KUKIKODAN, is a Japanese band whose lyrics and music seem to reflect on the everyday passing of daily life.

Tessa Violet and Lilas Ikuta. Been getting both of their song in playlist for a while now, only recently really start to listen to their collection. Haven't fully explore their music yet but i love what i've been listening.

Tessa Violet is great in concert, I will say :3

Ahh shit, I thought you said "Ben Bohmer" and got excited for a second.

[–] WaffleStomper@lemmy.world 4 points 19 hours ago

It's kind of funny because I've been listening to heavy metal for decades, but I just recently really got into Megadeth.

[–] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago) (1 children)

Fenne Lily, I find her voice mesmerizing.

Lambrini Girls, which are like The Chats if they were lesbians and from England instead of Australia.

Alfie Jukes, just because he's some fun lighthearted quality pop.

I just noticed that they're all from England. What can I say, the English still produce a bunch of good musical artists.

[–] TheCelticPirate@lemmy.world 3 points 18 hours ago

I saw Lambrini Girls open for Amyl and the Sniffers in Detroit. They killed it!

Recently to me is like 3-4 years. And I have given more bands a little more of a listen that I had originally written off when they got big. Shinedown, in this moment, and ghost were all bands that I had originally written off, but after listening to more, I actually really enjoy.

Beyond that, there's a French song I've been pursuing since I bought gran Turismo 7 that I've been dieing to find the artist name, despite it showing on screen whenever it changes, I never think to look, because I'm busy doing something else, I'm just like, "ooh this is that song I love!" And by the time I think to look in the corner, it's gone.

Edit: finally found it! Lous and the Yakuza, song called amigo!

Castle Rat.

A few weeks ago I realised that aside a couple of two big hits I didn't know any songs from Blondie.

I started with the first album, I'm liking it. I'll keep it in rotation a few more months before jumping to the next one.

I've never been into pop music, but I am absolutely hooked on Nilufer Yanya.

Remember Bobby McFerrin? "Don't Worry, Be Happy."..?

His daughter is also fabulous:

I've recently gotten into the drift/phonk genre (as well as some adjacent genres), and have enjoyed the way that most of the prominent artists in the genre all collab with each other, and shine light on newer artists entering the scene. None of them seem to be taking themselves too seriously, either, so there's a very fun energy to the scene. It's still a fairly new genre, so there's a lot of experimentation going on. It reminds me a lot of the early days of dubstep, with new sounds and a similar high-energy feel to the music. It's also got some pretty varied influences, from eastern European electronic tropes to Latin American and reggaeton inspirations.

The artist I've been listening to the most lately has been Deathpixie, a virtual artist (like Gorillaz or Dethklok) who just recently signed with Mau5trap, which is probably the most "mainstream" move I've seen in the genre so far. But I've also been jamming the likes of Pinkii, Pro6lema, ProdGX, Kordhell, RoboPup, Raizhell, Demxn, etc.

King Gnu. They’re known for their songs used in anime, but they have more great songs outside of that.

[–] finitebanjo@piefed.world 3 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

Rediscovered Feint recently, they have some good songs.

Also noticed Electric Six Synthesizer got a 2025 remaster.

Feint the DnB artist? Literally one of my favourite artists :D

[–] JetpackJackson@feddit.org 5 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

I need to listen to more Electric Six
