Progressive Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez suggested Thursday that the top congressional Democrats—and anyone else in the party refusing to support New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani—are setting a troubling precedent.

Like Ocasio-Cortez, both US Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries are New York Democrats. Unlike the "Squad" member, who endorsed Mamdani—a democratic socialist currently serving in the state Assembly—before he beat former Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the party's June primary, Schumer and Jeffries have continued to withhold support from their own party's nominee.

Palestine remaining the ultimate litmus test to find out which politician is fake.

It's pretty self explanetory. Any politician willing to further their career over the bodies of two million brown people will further their career over the bodies of their own constituents.

Or simpler: If they don't care about Palestinians they don't care about you either.

Not approved by Zionism puppets is the appeal.

Democratic "leadership" has led the Democrats into irrelevancy. Two years ago would have been the ideal time to replace them.

There was an effort. It was crushed and the winners are currently enjoying the fruits of their victory.

One year ago we decided to trust them and let them fight the opposition and look how that turned out.

Instead of admitting mistakes they are leading all of their sheep and influence agents to blame voters in a logicless excuse. Claiming bigotry, so therefore it is ok to nominate unwinnable candidates on a failed platform.

It is not bigotry either, they ran as status quo, r's as reform, it is that simple.

Ok, this title and excerpt were very confusingly worded. AOC does endorse him, but the other two wastes of space do not, correct?

[–] JakenVeina@midwest.social 26 points 3 months ago

Yeah, that's what the colon after "AOC" is supposed to indicate.

The news industry doesn't live and die off of physical newspaper headlines anymore, why the fuck are we still treating word count in a headline as something we need to optimize away?

[–] geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml 9 points 3 months ago

Yes. AOC criticizes them.

He's very charismatic, I can see why they're worried.

The DSA should take over the DNC.

[–] surph_ninja@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago

It went the other way. The national DSA org has long been compromised by “former” Democrat operatives. But there’s still some good local chapters.

Populist factions should take every position and nomination. The dsa may not be the best fit for say missouri, but economic populists that fight the chiselers would.

Federate populists across the party. Popular is feared in the establisment because their donors. In a country that elects based on popularity. It buggars reason these people still control the party.

They're setting the example they want to set.

"No matter who" when the candidate supports genocide but not American workers.

"Party Unity My Ass" for anyone to the left of their preferred anti-labor pro-genocide candidate.

The Democratic Party purpose is to stop you from preventing the Republican Party from implementing an authoritarian police state

[–] hector@lemmy.today 1 points 3 months ago

To create a neo feudalism, that is the end goal.

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago

Seems pretty simple to me.

Democrats are bootlicking scumbags.
