Im more hopeful for humanities future than i have been in awhile actually. The west is rapidly declining and China is doing great. Itll be a rough few decades to be a westerner tho for sure.

"As revolutionaries, we don't have the right to say that we're tired of explaining. We must never stop explaining. We also know that when the people understand, they cannot but follow us. In any case, we, the people, have no enemies when it comes to peoples. Our only enemies are the imperialist regimes and organizations." Thomas Sankara, 1985

The future, at least for the western nations, holds violence, repression, and genocide and further on resistance and revolution. Most of the west aren't getting socialism until after they finish their helping of barbarism. I get the impression that the rest of the world is just going to let the west burn and try to keep them at arms length until they have fixed themselves.
Some western nations may figure it out faster than others but usa is gonna be fucked fro a long time.
As imperialism is dying, conditions in the global north are weakening. The petite bourgeousie is being proletarianized, and the spoils of imperialism are drying up as the global south de-links from the global north. Socialist countries are breaking new ground and advancing. This is fertile ground for fascism in the west, the threat of communism is rising while the petite bourgeoisie is panicking, ready to be used by the bourgeoisie as footsoldiers to root out communists.
It's certainly an obstacle, but one that is appearing because conditions for socialism are rising. Contradictions are sharpening, this is increasingly a historic opportunity.

Hard to tell the exact details but things in the West are going to get worse before they get better and it will probably be some time before that happens.
But as it stands the West's descent into fascism is going to accelerate its decline and creating a global geopolitical situation that is more suitable to an international communist movement.
Think the Interwar Period but more extreme. There is a possibility of another world war, but I don't think it will be as destructive as the last one.
