Ah fuck, y'all ruined it before I even got the chance to move there. Damn Eartheans.

Don't worry. We won't be here for much longer. :(

It really is a slap in the dick that climate collapse according to the livable ranges for human life, seems to equate to a climate utopia for some of this planet's worst creatures.

Like... If we're gonna create an apocalypse anyway, is it really too much to ask to fuck the planet in a way that makes mosquitoes extinct before humans??

[–] FosterMolasses@leminal.space 3 points 3 months ago

Exactly. What happened to the classic collapse of the ecosystem by first eradicating all the bees, fish and insects? Let me get at least a few perks of environmental collapse before we all sink into the tarpits lol

Damnit. I was hoping to get there for the eclipse BEFORE the mosquitos.

Wasn't Iceland where all the super rich built their emergency bunkers?

those are seed vaults, they are building it in NZ.

Close enough...

I really dislike that they keep attributing this to climate change.

Northern Canada has a fuckton of mosquitos, it wasn't the cold weather keeping them away. Greenland also has mosquitos and it's north of Iceland.

edit: downvotes why? I literally work in a field directly dealing with mosquitos and have been to the Arctic circle and caught mosquitos to be identified (Culiseta alaskaensis by the way)

I'm not denying climate change is a thing. I just dislike that people attribute this to a warming climate with absolutely no evidence when it is easily countered.

The whole "Iceland doesn't have mosquitoes [as in annoying tiny flying biting insects]" is a bit misleading.

They don't have mosquitoes, no, but biting midges.
