Damn don't take away some of their nothing.

[–] Sciaphobia@sh.itjust.works 54 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He will probably authorize their back pay and then steal it. Why not, he gets away with literally anything.

[–] Whostosay@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 month ago

I'm legitimately surprised every single day that he doesn't invent the only 100 Trillion dollar bill.

Question: Who is he happy with?

Answer: Underage girls.

Solution: Release the Epstein files.

[–] Scubus@sh.itjust.works 20 points 1 month ago

Epstein files? Never heard of em.

OH YOU MEAN THE TRUMP FILES, gotcha

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Solution: Release the Epstein files.

While I agree with you, at this point, do we really think it will be any kind of solution? Do we really think any consequence will actually come from it even if we have explicit evidence?

At this point, the fukkin Epstein files are the distraction. They are emptying out our coffers and dashing our world reputation to the rocks and gutting our most basic social services to keep us alive and healthy and have ended programs that would have otherwise kept millions of people alive around the world. They are doing things that will literally lead to the death and suffering of millions and millions of human beings.

Yeah but he ought to be relentlessly hounded with questions about them every time he interacts with anybody else.

Just because of how much it'd aggravate him. The guy is old. Just needs a little extra push. A little more.

The quiet quitting of ATC got the attention of the senate and congress.

Seems that Americans should just go on strike for like ... three days.

Three days of "WhAT's An EcONoMy ?" would get some attention.

Three days of no starbucks. No flight attendants. No UBERS. No amazon deliveries. No teachers. No grocery stores. No gas stations. No "admins". No truck drivers.

Seems like three days of sit down and let them do it themselves would work.

[–] Wispy2891@lemmy.world 25 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It would be just easier, in an event of shutdown, to freeze all the assets of all members of Congress and Senate. You'll see how fast they'll reach an agreement when it's their money on the table and not someone else's.

[–] Carighan@piefed.world 9 points 1 month ago

Pay all federal employees from the personal money of the current administration if they fuck up something like the federal budget. 💡

Strong words for a man who travels by personal aircraft even when he's not President and whose priority in holding patterns is up to the discretion of air traffic controllers.

[–] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 20 points 1 month ago

Keep him up there until he's low on fuel then have him turn around.

not an air traffic controller but I assume it's a pretty high demand job. would be a shame if all controllers started a general strike and froze air traffic for weeks just to prove a point.

not like this administration could entice anyone outside the US to work in this shithole anyway.

what's the worst they'll do? chain you to the desk and make you work at gunpoi-- yeah... they'd probably do that...

[–] NotJohnSmith@feddit.uk 21 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'm not american but I think "the worse they can do" is the issue here, they introduced laws allowing atc to be imprisoned if they strike. Their options really are limited to claiming to be unwell

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

could just quit.

"sorry, I've decided to a change in careers is beneficial to my health."

[–] NotJohnSmith@feddit.uk 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Good idea, I read somewhere that's happening already with normal resignations being 1-2/day being closer to 20/day

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

that's impressive tbh. with numbers like that though it would take almost two years for a collapse to happen.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 month ago

Mid air collisions will happen much sooner than that.

[–] Cocodapuf@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

what's the worst they'll do? chain you to the desk and make you work at gunpoi-- yeah... they'd probably do that...

Yeah, he probably would. Luckily He doesn't have enough ICE agents to do that. And as ICE is his only personal army, that's the force he'd have to use.

In other words, he's all talk, he's out of cards to play here.

[–] XeroxCool@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (5 children)

They went on strike in the Reagan era and then got fired and replaced.

[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 9 points 1 month ago

"I know, we'll replace them with AI!"

✈️💥

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

may have worked then, but I doubt it will work this time.

He hates to be told no. Everyone hear that? The word no really irritate trump.

[–] XTL@sopuli.xyz 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] SereneSadie@lemmy.myserv.one 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Fascists hate the concept of 'no'. They can't comprehend not being obeyed.

On another note, Bede Polding College in Australia decided to hand out an on-the-spot suspension for saying 'no' to a teacher some years back.

Funny that.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 month ago

Maybe I am a violent Californian but if I was in a college that would suspend me for saying no to a teacher I'm going to punch someone at that point. May as well earn that suspension.

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 25 points 1 month ago

Fuck that guy

[–] olbaidiablo@lemmy.ca 25 points 1 month ago

This reminds me of this idiot manager we had at work once. He said he was going to lean on our vendors to get better prices. What ended up happening was the vendors one by one decided it wasn't worth it until only one was left, they realized they had a monopoly and doubled their prices every quarter for the next 3 quarters. This is the problem with idiots who have never had a real job, they don't understand how regular people think or what their motivations are.

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 25 points 1 month ago (3 children)

America is developing a long, weird, disappointing history of hating on air traffic controllers. Wild move singling out such a small field of people who have such massively important roles in managing not just our travelers but all of our air-shipped goods and products.

[–] bagsy@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

Rich people just dont like being told no. The rich want to fly, and they are absolutely livid that the poors are saying no.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 month ago

In what is a highly trained, extremely stressful job with more direct responsibility than a typical cardiologist. But we value people who shuffle papers on Wall Street 20-2000x more.

Just wait for Musk to offer an AI solution.

Those ATC guys should really consider forming a union...

[–] Bluefalcon@discuss.tchncs.de 21 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Air Traffic Control is undermaned. They have some of the crazies requirements to getting a job and forced retirement. All this was due to Reagen in 1981. That ws 44 years ago and we still haven't fixed this damage. Add the increased influence by private companies and I will be driving or walking everywhere.

Ugh, three more years of this shit. I dont want to age faster, but fuck me, Ill happily speed run this just to never hear about this cunt again.

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago

Anybody whose dealt with trump can tell you he's hardest on the people that don't fight him. If air traffic controllers don't make a stand he's going to fuck them over hard.

[–] circuitfarmer@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Basic capitalism, Donnie: you pay, people work. You don't pay, people don't work.

[–] TigerAce@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That's not true. I have a friend, he's a really good guy, has a weird haircut though, haha, but a good guy, it's true. Kim. Kim. A guy called Kim, can you believe it? I call him rocket man. He's really smart. Not as smart as me, but almost. He is very successful in running his country, it's called North Korea, have you heard of it? Korea, I love to say the word Korea. Lovely place he has. Kim is so smart, he has people working for him for free, and everyone is happy he tells me. They all love him so much, just like everyone loves me, it's true. I love talking to him, he is very, how do you day this, inspirational. What he can do, I can do too, but better because I'm smarter of course. Everyone knows that.

Mr president, this is a Wendy's

[–] Blumpkinhead@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

What a soggy sack of shit.

[–] sleepmode@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

When he gets upset, he's playing his hand. I hope the call-outs completely fuck up the holiday flights so he continues to feel the heat from it.

[–] Endymion_Mallorn@kbin.melroy.org 10 points 1 month ago

Good. Let him be unhappy. I support any ATC workers not working while unpaid.
